Oh, Texas... Student arrested for building a clock.

I'm not calling anyone a moron but, if you ask me the real culprit was "fear", like everyone said once you saw it, you know what it was. The teacher that reported it most likely let fear consume her/him. Fear spreads panic. Then you have this happen.

The second question (if you can figure out the first question, then you shouldn't be reading this) that comes to my mind if I was in the teachers position would be "why are the other kids not reacting?"

Third qustion is "why does everyone keep telling me its a clock?" and fourth, "is everyone against me?"

Fear which is a close cousin of assume....

If the kid was sneaking in the shadows with a box springs and wires, then I might draw to some suspision.

Leftwing, islamo-fascist apologists never show up when kids are suspended for brandishing plastic knives their mother put in their lunch box, or bend their fingers to emulate a pistol, or even when a little 5 year-old is suspended for kissing a classmate.

Progtards don't make a peep.

But when it's a arab kid who brings a clock to school made intentionally to look like a bomb - on 9/11 - they go ape shit.

Did the teacher go to far? Yes. Did the school district? Yes. Did the cops over-react? Yes - probably more so than the school. Should the teacher have been startled? On 9/11? It's not like islamo-facsit cowards have never used kids, or airplanes, or underwear, or shoes.

Yes Rainjacktx I do hate...I hate people like you. Ive been reading on here for years and that is something many, many people share with me. The kids clock was a school project (looked nothing like a bomb btw)...why wasn't the other teacher brought in to defuse the situation? Parents MUST be present for such an interrogation, people should be fired over this! This is a clear case of a teacher and principal over reacting and causing negative attention for both Texas and the teaching field. Could have been handled much better!

PS

The use of big words doesn't make you look more intelligent...face it, you are a bitter, prejudice, old man that tries to tear people down to make yourself feel better!

I haven't had a person melt down like you in a few years. Using the old "I have tons of friends and they all hate you too" line is pure beauty. Old, tired, and brimming with ignorance, but beautiful nonetheless. I don't need to look "more intelligent". My dog has better communication skills than you do, and she can lick her but at the same time.

I may very well be everything you accuse me of - but this is the internet, and everyone knows you just read yet another one of my posts. It's called pwnage. Learn to live with it.

This would probably never happen in a small school. Teachers/coaches know their kids well enough to not react like this. But this is a large school. And you're right, this WAS based on fear. Many things happen because of fear...riots, concentration camps, suspension of rights. But fear can also save lives. Y'all don't know this teacher from Adam, yet you call her an idiot, over reactive, and bigoted. I hope someone is as attentive when there is a real bomb threat. By the way, that "clock" looks nothing like a clock I've ever seen.

Thinking more about this today and reading more about it... why didn't they evacuate the school if they thought it was a bomb? And clearly they did because they cuffed the kid and brought him down to the station...

Well they would have but they were in the middle of TAKS testing and well.......

nah smokeyjoe, that is no excuse... we've been in the middle of state (provincial) testing here and a threat was called in and we evacuated. EVERY school in the world would evacuate if they thought there was even the slightest threat

Everything that happened after the teacher reported the kid was over-reaction. I'm just wondering why this is an issue now and kids getting expelled for bringing plastic cutlery to school never gets a mention?

Is it okay for school admin to completely overreact to a plastic knife, but somehow a line is crossed if the same thing happens with a clock that looks like a bomb?

Topher, the teachers in Texas schools are bound by the same federally mandated zero tolerance rules as other states that take federal education money. For the most part, they are also taught teh same curriculum (really indoctrination) in college, so it's little wonder there are the same reactions all over the US.

I am more and more considering it to be child abuse to send your kids, especially boys, to large public schools.

RJ - grab this book. Very good one....

That was an attempt at humor.......I guess you have to be in Texas to understand it......

Who can name several explosions or shootings
that were pre-empted
by someone that realized
a disaster was fixin' to strike.

so apparently this clock was in a pencil case... the first photos I saw it looked like a suitcase. That would be way more worrisome.. BUT A PENCIL CASE?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm still chuckling over how stupid that teacher, Principal, and Irving PD are...
