its the politicians ramming this

The politicians really do not care. All they want are the "campaign contributions" from the educrat and teacher unions.

One thing that I do know is that Texas teachers don't make enough to contribute to anybody or anything. They have to borrow to make it to the end of the month.

I tried.......... since this evolved into an education thread, I'll throw my 2 cents in. I have seen kids graduate from college at 19 with an "education" but no clue what to do with their lives. Conversely I have a cousin who had a law degree at age 21 and has enjoyed great success. It is about the individual. The system has been herded into a collective mentality by standardized testing and the elimination of reasoning.
This is not the fault of our hard working teachers who are forced into presenting a curriculum mandated by the state who in turn has been mandated by the Feds.
I leave it to you to deduce where the fault lays......
