You just never know.

Has anyone noticed with sixman football you never what to expect. A reall low ranked team could upset a top ranked team, this seems to happen alot. There are so many under ranked teams, but i guess thats just part of it. As doggie would say part of the fun is not knowing.

A lot of that is due to the guesswork that goes into ranking teams in six man football. The information that we have available in six man is very limited and at times, unreliable. And, even when we start getting useful information like scores, we have the 45 point mercy rule, which limits the ability I tell just how much better a team is than the other. There is a huge riddance between 45 at the half vs 45 with a minute or 2 in the 4th, but we don't get that info reliably enough to use it. So sometimes, what people call an upset is nothing more than a team being accurately rated yet due to a lack of information.

An "UPSET" in sixman football is normally a combination of things. NOT the LEAST of these is the loss of a key player. I can't imagine to have a ranking system where a "TEAM" is 8 or 10 position occupants and one superstar. The superstar goes down and the "RANKING" has no meaning what so ever.

Just like last Friday night I saw a score I could not believe. A team that should have won by 30 or more lost by loses by 45+. When the story is revealed - the team that lost was without 4 starters on a team that normally just plays a rotation of 7 kids on the team of 10. No amount of data and computing power is going to predict that.

In six man it is injury, injury or injury oh yea and let's not leave out the academically ineligible.

And I think I know why it happens! Its all about matches. Some low ranked tams match up well with a high rank team as far as defense and offenses run, and type of players. I epect MC and Throck to be a good one strictly for the fact they are both physical teams. Then you have the Valleys and Follets who have 5 runningbacks and maybe one big guy on the field.

I was curious about this as well. I'm brand new to six man and catch myself a head coach who looks at the spread to get any information on the level of team we're facing. We have now faced the #2, #6 and #15 team by the standings, and we have lost on extra points in two outta three. I'm not saying we're better than the expectation, but agreeing that getting quality information on teams is like pulling teeth. Twice now I haven't even received film on an opponent, much less tendencies and/or formations. I have a new found respect for 6 man coaches for the work that goes in every week preparing for the unexpected.
