Worst Band

well me and mclean88 are tied for the longest thread on here w/ 11...I'm gonna try to start a new one...besides..I'm bored lol

So... In ya'lls opinion...who is the worst band in history? I'm not looking for answers like "just cause you don't like em doesn't make the bad" I'm just looking for opinions here...

Mine would have to be Nirvana...

just cause they absolutely ruined the thing I love most about music...a GUITAR SOLO!!

Actually.....yeah I would lol sounds bad but it's true... I understand that Nevermind was a "breath of fresh air" for the industry... but it also opened the flood gates for bands like Candlebox and Soundgarden to pollute the airwaves...that's why I don't really like Nirvana...

Worst band ever....through any genre or just rock? Because rascal fatts( not a typo) makes me me want to get more violent than listening to Pantera.

Country music is in a sad sad place when you now know that every year around the middle of May, Kenny Chesney is going to drop a song about "going back" to "mexico" to sit in a "blue chair" and then leave the beach to go back to cleveland.

There is some talent, i mean Brad Paisley is a lights out picker but he records the most ignorant songs ive ever heard. Check you for ticks? geeeezzzzz

But as far as rock, Theres a list Good Charlotte, Whatever band is resposible for Emo, quite a few others come to mind

But come on Logun Calling out Nirvana for killing the guitar solo??? If anything Guns and Roses killed the 80's guitar solo. Slash reintroduced feeling and blues. Of course Slash is a fast player, but him and his band are the ones who really took away the pretty glitz and glamour and finesse bullsh!t. and made rock and roll raw and powerful again( ala early Aerosmith, zeppelin....)

you have to admit Candlebox rocks man. Far Behind, Cover Me, 10,000 horses?!?!?! SoundGarden is my all time favorite listen to blow up the world from the inside, Nirvana also gave us Alice in Chains( Layne, Jerry), The Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, STP!!!

I love 80's music more than most. ( Ratt's "your in love" is my ringtone) but it was definately time for a change.

Logun we start recording bass and drums for our new album the 22nd of september. I will keep ya posted!

NEVER DISS SLASH MATT!!! lol jk How can you even mention Slash and "killing the guitar solo" in the same sentence?? "Sweet Child O' Mine"??? Possibly the BEST guitar solo ever... I even enjoyed some of C.C. Deville's work as sad as it may sound... Mick Mars even had some good stuff around that time...and yes Ratt is amazing DeMartinni (sp.) is one of my all time favs. But at least there was still a guitar solo in mainstream after Guns N' Roses...and I have to admit that Hawthorne Heights is pretty far up the list as far as worst ever...

Brad Paisley is amazing...hands down one of the best guitar players out there...and personally I love his songs...c'mon..."I'm so much cooler online"?? That's genius..lol

ok ok...Far Behind is good...I actually play that from time to time lol

FOO FIGHTERS??? STP??? C'mon Matt...I expected better lol. And I REFUSE to even come close to putting Alice In Chains any where close to Nirvana... Jerry Cantrell is a god among men...

Smashing Pumpkins??? ok...ONE good sone (Rat In A Cage)

All in all... I still have to say out of all the genres Nirvana is at the bottom of the pile...

And please keep me posted Matt...I still listen to your other Cd lol

The Pumpkins with only one good song?! (One that you misnamed  )

Bullet With Butterfly Wings (the one you mentioned)
1979
Tonight, Tonight
Zero
Ava Adore
Disarm
Today
Cherub Rock
Doomsday Clock
That's the Way (My Love Is)

At least.

Zeitgeist is a great album and one of my favorites of 2007. Probably second only to Arcade Fire's Neon Bible.

lol sorry... I don't listen to much SP. I know 1979 too.

I'm not sure the exact name but one CD I did sort of enjoy was Mellencollie and the Infinite Sadness or something to that extent...

I'm not even gonna respond to that nonsense about Nirvana, they were great ..enough said. The worst band ever is Nickelback. They started off ok, but then totally sold out and went for the easy hits. They only appeal to teenage girls and guys trying to live like "rockstars"

I use to LOVE Nickelback...way back in like Hesher, The Curb, The State and Silver Side Up days...I have to admit that over the years they have lost a lot of appeal... their success now-a-days shows what kind of state music is in (much like Nevermind showed it back in the early nineties.)

No Slash didnt kill the guitar solo. You could say he killed the 80's guitar solo however. Lets face it not many other bands at that time were plugging a Les Paul into a Marshall and going to work. it was time and he did it

Brad Paisley should go on tour with Nickelback, Jason Alexander, the guy from Star trek, Ronny James Dio, Yanni, and The Olson twins

Not really a fair comparison.

ok ok...I can handle killing the eighties solo.

TECHNICALLY you could say that AC/DC was just plugging in and playing (although it was SG and not a Les Paul) but your right it wasn't very popular... and it was time.

the worst era of rock in my memory was the final flame-out of the hair bands. 80's hair bands were good, but as the Crue, Ratt, Poison, etc was nearing the end, all of the crap came out of the woodwork. Mr. Big, Extreme, Slaughter, Trixter, Winger, The Storm, etc. etc. - thank goodness for Nirvana helping pull music out of that trash. It was truly the "boy band" era of rock.
