Valley Patriots or Throckmorton Greyhounds?

Who wins the West semifinal game?

Throckmorton is of course a powerhouse. But Valley is consistently good. I attrbute it great coaching, as I believe their coach is one of the best and doesn't get enough credit.

But either way, who wins it? I fear the Buchanan stud can't over power Trock.

Valley is very well coached. I haven't seen a team wrap up as well as they do all year. If they lay a finger on you, you're going down.

The Buchanan boy is good. If he gets the corner on you, he'll score 6.

All that said, I think Throck wins the game.

I say Throck wins by 10 points, if they don't turn the ball over Throck is the best team in the state, but if Valley can force Throck to give them the ball off of fumbles or interceptions than they have a serious chance.

Valley has a couple or three running backs that they use. They have a qb that can throw, and receivers that can catch.

The same can be said for Throck. They have that guy from Shrek who is evidently heading to DI college ball if my sources are indeed correct.

Throck will have a decided size advantage over Valley, but Valley being the smaller team on the field is nothing new this season. They will light you up. There are several Patriot players that you will probably feel sorry for because they are so small. But that won't last long. They'll knock the want to right out of you.

Enough cheer leading. This game will come down to mistakes and extra points. The team who can convert the 3rd and 10's on offense, and not give up 3rd and 25's on defense. The team that can hold on to the ball. The team that doesn't commit dumb penalties. The team that can line up and kick every one of their PAT's. The team that can do all of that - or more of that than the other team - will be your winner.

Very well said Rainman. I agree. Throck has 1 fairly small young man compared to the rest of the Throck team and he can run the ball really well. Turnovers will be big in this contest, I think I saw Throck with a couple fumbles against Rankin but I don't think they lost either one. As I said before per my observation Throck has an excellent kicking game, I just don't see Throck missing many PAT's at all, unless Valley can penetrate and get some of them blocked. I do see Valley being able to run the ball on Throck if Valley can stick with their blocks as did Rankin for the most part in the first half of that game. Rankin's RB still had a 300 yard game rushing. WOW I cannot wait for this game!!! Both teams have high powered offense's so I do think this will be a great game. The team that makes the least amount of mistakes and the defense that makes some stops will get the win.

I know Valley doesn't usually have big hitters, maybe they are different this year! But I do know that Throck is a powerhouse. And so is Valley.

Oh, and could you think that only last year Follet and Valley were in the same district? In 2010 it was safe to say that was the most competitive District in D1 with Valley, Follet, and at the time Kress had Amador and McLean had Crockett. So it was for sure an amazingly tough district.

And so happy for the Pats! Know some people over there, and I think Valley should be dubbed the Permian of 6man. Those farm and ranch folks live and breath 6man football, as well as accel at FFA and UIl, and every other sport! I truly believe it and Nazareth to be 2 of the best schools in the state.

I've tried to stay off this thread but I couldn't resist. I agree with 80 yards. After watching the Throckmorton-Rankin game I think that Throckmorton will be your eventual state champions. Unless somebody has a D1 type defensive back that can cover a D1 type receiver then I don't see this one even being close. The kid is a STUD! Too big, too fast, and great hands. If you bracket him then you have to play the run 4 against 5. Throck is a tough matchup for anybody. I will be at this one. Good luck to both teams

Evidently, Valley is no walk in the park matchup-wise.

I'll tell you this much, WV held Farquar to only one catch and still got crushed. T-Rock has a number of weapons they can hurt you with. I know Valley is tough (just like they always are), and I expect this to be a great game, but I think T-Rock takes it by 18.

It should be a great game indeed. I refuse to pick a winner or a spread because I am not about to jinx Valley.

I'm just glad Valley is not heading into this game as the favorite.
