touchback rule

I'm relatively new to 6man and I've searched the boards, but would still like a rule clarified.
If Team A is receiving a kickoff and Team A player catches it in the endzone, is he allowed to run it out, or does it become a touchback? I know it's a touchback if it hits the ground in the endzone, but what if the player catches it 1 yd deep?

On a free kick (kickoff) if a ball untouched by team B (receivers) touches the ground on or behind team B's goal line it is a touchback.

If team B (receivers) catch the ball in the end zone they may advance it out of the EZ or simply take a knee for a touchback.

If team B muffs the kick in the ez, the ball is live, if he regains possession, he may take a knee and it would still be a touchback.

If team B muffs the kick in the field of play, and the ball goes into the endzone, the ball is live and if he regains possession he may take a knee and it would be a touchback, because the status of the ball is still a kick.

Team A in rule speak is always the team that starts with possession of the ball and puts the ball in play, that designation is retained throughout that down, no matter what happens during the down.
