REFERENCE KTXS Sports report:
Playing an “Outlaw” schedule doesn’t necessarily keep you out of a post season game. Just ask the head Coach at Morton ISD. They changed mid season to a six man Independent season. Ended the season ranked number 2 among the Independents by sixman.com, played the number 1 ranked Independent, private school Tyler HEAT team an won the Independent Sixman Football State Championship in a close, hard fought game and then received a much deserved hero’s welcome when they returned home Sunday night. Last year Claude ISD moved to Sixman and finished the season ranked number one. They lost to Dallas UME in a heartbreaking(but very exciting) finish.
UIL teams have played as Independents for many years, long before our Bowl Series began.
The problem for Independent Sixman Football players was there was no post season event. Not much to look forward to.
There is now so every play of every game now counts. Rankings from Sixman.com determines the match up of the Bowl Games and which teams play for the State Title. This is especially important for the Seniors as they now have something to play for. The Bowl Medallions that are awarded display the unique logo of the Texas Independent Sixman Bowl Series and are the same size and weight of the State UIL Medallions. The Champions receive a Gold Football and Runner up receives a Silver one for their Trophy cases.
So if you are an Independent or “Outlaw” , make sure that Sixman.com knows. You can tell your kids that every game counts as your team’s final ranking determines if they receive an invitation to play In Gholson, Texas, Saturday, November 9, 2019. Top 10 teams will play 5 Bowl Games. These Bowl Games broadcasts have been received in 7 countries and over 100 U S markets.
Now for Independents, every play, every game, EVERY PLAYER COUNTS !
Independent Sixman Football Bowl Series. See you in Gholson, Texas !
