Texas approves 85 mile speed limit

Yesterday I made the 190 miles to Rule from the big D with and average speed of 73.45MPH. Not bad considering it took a while to get out of dodge. Amazing how much territory one can cover at 85MPH.

For 8 dollars, I think I'll stick to the 70.

If you're on IH-35 between Austin and San Antonio, 70 is probably a fantasy. Well, maybe not between Kyle and New Braunfels, but once you get around Buda going north and Schertz going south, the highway resembles a parking lot. With no empty spaces.

If 130 is successful in pulling through truck traffic (Laredo going north) from IH-35 over to 130, it may be helpful in reducing congestion on IH-35, but it remains to be seen. I did hear from a local politician the other day who said that a couple of the major trucking lines feel toll roads are a time saver as it costs in excess of $60 an hour to run a big rig and if the tollway can save them an hour on average, it would be a decent investment.

First reported accident on the new road (approx. 5 pm Thurs.) ... why do I feel like the folks in Radiator Springs after Lightning McQueen fixed the road?

Seguin Gazette Enterprise

A minor one-vehicle accident on the newly opened SH130 sent one man to the hospital. The vehicle was traveling south bound near FM 621 when it left the road and got stuck in a bar ditch.

Just noticed this has made the national news on MSN.
The other day I was looking at one of those little "Smart" cars in the parking lot. Looked in the window and the speedometer goes to 100. Not me. Saw one on the interstate a coupe of weeks ago. Thought how I would not want to be doing 65-60 or even 55 in one with an 18 wheeler riding my tail.
So if a Smart car hits a big hog at 85..........I don't think it's real smart to take an even remote chance of that happening.

Speed limit? What's that?
It refers to a minimum speed you should maintain when using your walker so you don't get run over in a crosswalk or caught in one of those automatic doors at Walmart.
