Hosting 2 semifinals games at one site spread over two days seems must be advantageious to someone, but it is not beneficial to the people that count - the players and the families.
I cannot find any level of football in Texas where both semifinals are played in a neutral site between four teams over 2 days causing additional mileage and time, and more importantly less opportunities for families and friends to attend.
I understand putting two state championships back to back with the hopes of drawing football fans that might not drive to one game. But will this scenario bring additional fans?
It would be nice if some of the grandparents, friends and families of the players could attend without having to have 10-12 hours available and over 300 miles roundtrip to watch. With a home team, or a site somewhere between 2 teams, at least some people can attend. Now, with this site in middle of 4 teams, who will be able to attend other than immediate family.
If this was 2 back to back games, then maybe this makes some sense (although I fail to see it). But these games are spread over two days. I am at a loss. Can someone explain the rationale????
