Street Painting

I've seen Strawn's and Woodson's streets leading to the football field painted by the students. Looks great. Does anyone else do that?

I heard Meadow paints kitten paws and glitter rainbows on the way to the field. Not sure why since they're the broncos. Might want to ask Coach Cooper about it!

If I recall right Strawn's paw prints have players names and numbers in them. Thus some get repainted every year, graduating seniors with new varsity members. In turn the number of named and numbered prints go up and down from year to year. It's been going on for several years. I have no idea whose idea it was.
Might be corny to some but it amps me up as I approach the field, let's me know I'm there, for Football.

Smokey might be pulling your leg.
I don't think Paul Cezanne was known for painting streets.
Then again not many would consider me the artsy fartsy type.
Smokey may well be a connoisseur of fine art. Or he may have taken an art class at Tarleton as an elective for easy credit.

I don't know much much about the classics other than the names of Picasso and the Mona Lisa (e.g. was Monet a painter or composer? I can't remember).
My interest leans to Western Art like Remington and Russell, though my knowledge of it is also quite limited.
If anyone out there passing through Cowtown ever has time stop by the Sid Richardson Museum of Western Art on the edge of Sundance Square. Not too far away is the Texas Cattle Raisers Association headquarters with if I remember right an impressive exhibit of paintings, brands, and maybe barbwire (it's been many years since I was there). There is another place we went to years ago I can't remember the name of down by Kerrville that was very interesting. Never been to the Bandera Museum but would like to check it out some time. The Cowboy HOF in OKC was way cool too. In addition to Charles Goodnight's chuck wagon, a life size bronze of "Commin' Through the Rye" and many outstanding paintings they have the rifle John Wayne used in The Green Beret's, and, it's been so long, but I want to say the one from Stagecoach.

Those Roadrunner lithos wouldn't happen to be of neon paint on black velvet, would they? I could trade you a couple of elvis' for a roadrunner.

But nothing beats those paintings of dogs playing poker. On black velvet, of course.

Ah how times change. Mine are folded up and put away. Never had velvet Elvis but the poker dogs and another of a buckout seemed cool at the time.
