Just curious how many private schools have spring football? If you do, what do you do during your practices? Did you wear pads & helmets or just shorts and maybe helmets?

We generally go just 10 days for Spring Practice. We go shorts and t-shirts because almost all of our players play 3 sports and by this time of the year their bodies are beat up and worn down, so going pads would possibly lead to unnecessary injuries. We use this time to team build and teach concepts. With our move to six-man for the 2015 season, Spring Practice has a little more importance this year.

This spring has been very important for us as we are transitioning systems. We only run 8 days of spring workouts due to a very packed end of the year school calendar. only shorts and t-shirts. Two-a-days and regular season practices are filled with skill development, so this year we have opted to utilize spring as a teaching time for system terminology, schematics, and concepts.
