Speed and Agility Calculator

Does anyone have access to a speed and agility calculator in Excel? Or would anyone like to take a crack at creating one?

well Im looking for an excel spreed sheet that can calculate the following

Explosive Power
Vertical Reach (VR)
Vertical Jump (VJ) (VJ-VR)

Maximum Strength
# Pushups over 2 Minutes (PUSHUPS\2)
Speed
40 yards (Time)
Quickness
10 Yards from Set position (Time)
Agility
L-Drill (Time)

To equate and overall player rating. Excel isn't my strongest suit. lol

Smokey, I’m looking to build spreadsheet.

I started a spread sheet with the variables in the last post. It’s pretty easy to come up with a flat score... However, that is somewhat generic and doesn’t give you much insight or account for much.

Also, at some point you have to include MASS. Because, if you have a guy that weighs 130 and guy that weighs 205 and their overall scores are the same... Who would you go with?

First I would suspect I would have to make a pie chart from my categories and figure out how much each category makes the whole...
I started with this..
Explosive Power - 20%
Max Strength - 20%
Max Speed - 20%
Max Quickness - 20%
Max Agility - 20%

It would be nice if some of the coaches would chime in on this and maybe help thoughts on variable and percentages.

I would think you would start with your data input. After that initial input you can place values on different areas. I can foresee some problems with bias in attempting this. You may place s greater value to say speed as opposed to strength I'm sure the NFL uses some standard testing criteria, but if you want it for your use only you can juggle numbers anyway you want as long as you arrive at the desired results.
I was once asked to perform a community needs assessment for a 30 county area. My first question was who will be reviewing this and for what purpose. You can make the numbers mean anything you want.

While very true. Im looking for the unbiased version. This is personal use to help me gauge individuals I don't know in a mini combine... In the end some of the coaches might like it to help with assesments.

Im just about done with calculating explosive power. I used Sayers Peak Power formula becuase it only used VJ height and MASS and excluded TIME. We wont have access to a timing pad.

Sayers Formula

The Sayers Equation (Sayers et al. 1999)[3] estimates peak power output.
•Peak power (W) = 60.7 x VJ (cm) + 45.3 x mass(kg) - 2055
http://www.brianmac.co.uk/sgtjump.htm

I had to find a control so I used VJ (30 Inches) and Weight (250 lbs), after Sayer equation I made another cell that browke 7707.2694 down 20% of my pie.... (7707.2694*0.00259)

a 250lb man with a 30" vertical leap would score 19.96
a 150 man with a 30" vertical leap would score 14.6

:) just a truckin this morning..

Ok I need some math help haha

SLIDING SCALE that FALLS when the INPUT INCREASES

TIME/DISTANCE and MAX the rating at 17..... where the faster the TIME/DISTANCE is....the score RISES and the slower the TIME\DISTANCE is ....the score DECREASES.

For instance if you sprint 40 Yards in 5 seconds Will call that the MAX at 17.....anything lower than that the number needs to fall.

5/40 = .125 = 17
5.5/40 = .1375 I need to calculate it so this Score FALLS and not RISE.

any help would be appreciated.

Subtract the quotients from 1.0, so

5/40=0.125.......1-0.125=0.875
5.5/40= 0.1375..1-0.1375=0.8625

Well OBK, i got it working mighty fine... however WEIGHT makes a big difference haha. Im going to keep kicking the dog and see where it goes. If ya want to take a gander. pm your email...

Does anyone care to provide some insight as to what they think a good sixman athelete needs?

here is what I have so far. 6 Categories

Lower Body Power (15%)
Upper body Strength (15%)
Speed (17.5%)
Quicknes (17.5%)
Balance (17.5%)
Agility (17.5%)

100%

Think of it as a pie chart for a player.... These are just what I started with and I'm looking to refine it through input. If I'm missing a category i'd like to know that as well.

What about Reaction Time? from some type of CNS test like on Lumosity?
Doesn't speed basically stem from CNS processing?
Perhaps someone from the Fitness Mgt. industry could help.

Recovery time/endurance? NIKE SPARQ uses this in their equation, called the yo-yo test. Since many players play both ways (and sometimes the entire game), I think this would be relevant.

Appreciate your post, been working on my own little spreadsheet for our offseason program.
