So I sat down and watched...

Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It's borderline unwatchable this day and age. I don't think they hired an editor, because it could easily have been cut down from 132 minutes to 90.

The only way I made it through was to watch the last half at 1.5X speed.

Ur jest tryin to get OBK sturred up but it aint worked yet. He must be in a meetin', takin an afternoon nap, or in the toilet.

Actually, I would love to hear his take on it. I love the franchise, and this is the first installment that I haven't enjoyed. No wonder Star Wars was such a big deal. It totally blew this movie of the water and was made two years earlier.

It wasn't the best but it wasn't awful either. I love Star Trek, especially recently with the new movie coming out. I have watched it atleast 5 times (I got an advanced copy on DVD). I have been using my summer off to re watch all the movies. My favorite outside the new one was the wrath of khan or the voyage home. The voyage home was awesome because it had Kirk trying to teach Spock to cuss. LOL.

I am a Star Wars and Star Trek fan. There is a very easy way to determine if a Star Trek movie is good or not........I am going to give away the secret now.

Does it say STAR TREK in the title? Is it about Star Trek? If you can answer yes to either one of these questions then it is an AWESOME movie.

There, you have my secret......please don't share it with anyone.

It was OK, but not as good as Star Wars. Of the Star Trek movies only the latest entry and the Wrath of Khan were really good, the rest ranged from awful to OK.

Actually, I was asleep in a meeting.

Also known as an illegal bootleg.

I'm watching them all this summer too, but Star Trek I nearly derailed the whole operation. The one good thing about it is that I now know what it'd be like to take acid. Here are some of the unintentionally funny things I found about the movie:

1.) Excessively long sequences of the crew gawking at the viewscreen.
2.) Random people floating in space.
3.) The Enterprise's warp drive creating a wormhole.
4.) The commander is the pot-smoking dad from 7th Heaven.
5.) Suggesting that V'ger went through a blackhole to get to another part of the galaxy.
6.) Kirk's obnoxious arm hair in his short-sleeved shirt.

Ah yes, dozing to the drone of the boss's voice, or an accountant (those marketing people are too perky). I've got to get up to speed here. So I gather from what I've read here that Star Wars and Star Trek are not the same thing? But I thought Opie one kanobe was Scotty's dad & Kirk was Lukes uncle. Arm hair & acid? Are wormhole's not hard to see with the naked eye? Any of these out on vhs?

Oops, didn't mean to offend any Trekie's or Darth Vader fans. Used to like watching the Star Trek TV show & Lost in Space, just never got into any of the space movies. Guess my favorite space show would be reruns I watched as a kid of Flash Gordon. Not the 1980 (or 96') movie, the old black & white TV show from the 50's. It was a classic, the original "Space Cadet" if you will. I do love Shatner's charcter on Boston Legal, he's nuts on it.

I agree about Boston Legal. Did you see the last episode, Shattner says, "they just don't want us around anymore, maybe we will come back somewhere else". Not exact I am sure but it is the general idea. Are they going to come back in another show, another network or is it just my wishful thinking?
