Ad naseum all over the rural parts of the US. BTW....I ran across an article in a 1947 Abilene Reporter-News talking about teh same this for all the school closings/consolidations in the late 1940's. Again, improved farm machinery made it possible to farm more acreage with fewer people was the main reason for schools like Sylvester, Dowell, and Pyron closing.
