My 14 year old son said yesterday that as he gets older it seems like the summers are shorter and shorter. Me and his mom looked at each other and laughed. He asked what we were laughing about. We told him that when he grows up, gets married and has kids (IN THAT ORDER) that he will see that the summers get longer and longer. LOL

I really am glad to see school starting back up and I do realize that 4 more years and he will be gone to college. It is a two edged sword, you want them to grow up and get out but on the other hand you treasure every moment.

You hit the nail on the head. Luckily, I have two kids that are ready for school. My 10 year old daughter gets to "see all my friends again!!", and my 16 year old son is happy 2-a-days are over and games will soon begin.

Some of us in the private school side of the street started last week (some will start as late as Labor Day week, but many started this past week so to finish a semester by Christmas...). My kid (4th grade) had his week of seeing his old pals, now he's had enough of school ...

After 26 years in education (youngest graduated last year), it seemed like the summers continued to get shorter and shorter even with the kiddoes. I guess it's because I was around them year 'round, but I never had that problem where they seemed longer. Summer 2011 was the shortest to date, forecast doesn't look long for 2012 either. Luckily I love school
