It was reported tonight that the Richland Springs Coyotes have now won 17 straight District Championships, and have won 73 straight District games. Are either or both of these feats a record?

different sport but Coolidge has won 62 straight district basketball games dating back 5 years since their last district loss.

I think Calvert football has a pretty high number DISTRICT winning streak as well.

Yeah RS hasn't lost a district game since 2001. Actually, they haven't lost a single regular season game against a D2 opponent in that time, either (occasional losses to May, Happy, BC, etc).

Yes, Amazing that Richland Springs undefeated regular season run came after they stopped scheduling Strawn, if you notice on Lone Star Football Network, Strawn beat Richland Springs three years in a row 1998 to 2000. At that point in time Strawn had won six to one in games with Richlands Springs Since then Strawn and Richland Springs have split the next six games. Richland Springs regular season competition was anemic at best and district competition was even weaker. Granted Richland Springs took care of business winning their state championships but as a few of the people on this site have pointed out, splitting six man into two divisions certainly has watered down what we call competition. Hey go ahead and anoint them the latest and greatest but keep some perspective on this too!!

The loss to BC in 2009 was to a D2 opponent. Richland was still in D1. Since Richland has been in D2 since 2010, they have not lost a regular season game to a D2 opponent.

Good catch - maybe more accurate to say RS hasn't lost to a team in their division during the regular season since 2001?
Durn, that’s a lot of qualifiers........... might suffice to say they’ve been good for quite a while.........
