I too have developed a ranking "toy". Basically, it's an excel spread sheet that does calculations. I was pretty much told not to complain about ones "toy", and to get my own toy. Well, i like toys, so I made one. I'm sure it is not as good as the Guru's, but I don't like the SOS factor, so I made my own without it. I'm sure some people will not like my rankings, and some people will like them better than what is out there already. So, for what it is worth (which is probably not much) here are my ranks thru week 4 for DII.

how did you come up with your determinations and what are your factors?,,, what did you find wrong with sos the amout of points assigned or what? you are using some nember system correct? what are they based on? wins? losses? please explain

ok, a quick explanation.

1) the ratings are based on a point spread system. Team A with a 100 point rating should 45 Team B with a 55 point rating or less. If Team A does so, they get no change in their rating, neither does Team B. If they however do not, then Team A will drop in rating by half of the difference between spread and actual, Team B goes up half the distance between spread and actual.

2)The reason that I don't like stregth of schedule. best explained using an example. Week 0, Team A rated at 100 points, beats B rated at 70 points by 40. Given the above criteria, team A's new rating is now 105, Team B's is now 65. fast forward to week 3, team B's best and pretty much only player gets hurt, out for the season with a broken heart. Their rating will drop, and drop quick. (I have seen it happen). Why should Team A's rating suffer as well? It shouldn't.

3)My initial point was pretty simple, i took granger's rank, 1 through 253 (i think) and gave RS 253 points to start, and whoever was last, 1 point to start, and went from there.

That's about it, simple and yet effective. And trust me, I would like my team ranked a little higher too, but the numbers speak for themselves. Good teams that beat good teams, will move up quicker than good teams that 45 weak teams.
 
Cowboy P, I do have sands above Aquilla, however, if I were to rank all of the teams by how I THINK they should be ranked, I would have Aquilla (and Gordon) in the top 10. LOL

Lol! I agree with you, and I think it's possible for both to make the quarterfinals.
The comment about Sands was just made to get ofb started. :)
 
Until you get Star in the top 10, I'm gonna be upset. They are better than their record indicates, they just need a little confidence boost.

Hornkeeper, there's a lady from Aquilla that's gonna be all over your butt. I'm still waiting for one of y'all to post a roadmap with directions to all the top ranked West Texas schools from Aquilla.
 
Private rankings: the ONLY reason I keep track of the private schools ratings is so that I can determine a public schools rating when they play one. I have absolutely, positively, indisputably no interest in private schools whatsoever. I'll post my top 100 overall next time I get on my computer so that you can have a look.
