Pure 6

I was talking to a friend of mine about how I would like to make all the All Star games this year again, though it does not look possible with my schedule. He asked what game I would make it to if possible and when I said Coach Steeles Brazos Bowl, he laughed.

"It's not an All Star game really. It's just throwbacks looking for one more shot."

I was mortified. Number one because if you view last years roster, you will see it is not throwbacks, it featured many All Staters and other boys I saw play in Lubbock.

But that was not my point. My point is that these boys who play in this game have nothing. No scholarship. No trophies. No awards. No titles. They are called throw backs for participating. But they play for passion. They play for joy. They work out in the hot heat, a year removed from their football shape. They take risks that have potential to put them in the hospital. They wake up early, go to bed late. All to say, they ended on a good game.

So before you laugh, or snicker, or undercut these boys or this game, go watch it. Its not like the Don Hardin Bowl, or the Lubbock game. It's different. It's not played for glory, or for attention earned. It's played for bragging rights, for one more shot, and as the last dance to the last song of a football career. That is football. That is beautiful. That, friends, is pure 6 Man.

Getcha some.

I'm excited to see it this year. It's a cool concept. Don't leave out the CanAm Bowl on the list of all star games. It's an amazing experience for the kids as well.
