Need blocking drill ideas??

Well I’m probably going to get blasted right and left for saying this but here goes.
Having been in regular contact with someone I believe is in a position to give direction and guidance with credibility and authority on the “current” rules, the future rules and existing rules, we teach “NO BLOCKING BELOW THE WAIST. If you can’t see his face and number, don’t hit him. The reason we teach this method is based on the strong belief that much sooner, rather than later, this will be the rule. ALL BLOCKING BELOW THE WAIST WILL BE ILLEGAL. The current rule, as it stands, is subject to any manner of interpretation at any given time by any Official. It is not subject to review, it is a judgment call pure and simple. Let’s be honest about the situation. There is a shortage of officials. 6 man doesn’t get the same experienced officials that 6 A football does. Last year we played a game where one of the 2 officials on hand told the coaches it was his third football game to officiate and his first 6 man game. Not his fault, someone had to be there. What I’m saying here is that we are training for the future now, especially with our Jr. High and younger Varsity players. It’s eaiser to prepare for the future than it is to change the training of the past.
Ok, everyone, fire away!

I don't think anyone should fire away on anything blocking above the waist is how it should be done period. Going below the waist to cut someone's knees who's rushing the passer or just trying to get in the backfield shouldn't happen. That's one of the reasons you see so many ACL injuries every year is low blocks. As you said if you can't see their number don't hit them. If your kids miss a block they miss a block it's not worth ending a career to make sure the running back or quarterback doesn't get stopped behind the line.
