Ira vs. Hermliegh

Wreck’em
Can the new and improved Cards take on the heavy tradition Bulldogs. Let me add Ira hasn't lost to the Cards in 21 years and the Dogs 45'd em the last 5 meetings!

Hermleigh (spelling on title).....

Now onto the game, This should be a very good and exciting ball game. I'll be heading to Scurry County to see this one. I'll be adding more 6 man mileage on the Acura.

The winner will keep the White Buffalo Trophy that has been housed at IRA ISD for the past 21 years.
Ira may have to blow off the dust and cob-webs after this one and hand it over to the cardinals.

Deep down, IRA has the IT factor so far this year.
Hermleigh is very good this year.

If Granger and Cowboy parks ever did a Six-Man Game Day.... This would be the game this week.
I could see Cowboy Parks, Saying NOT SO FAST ME FRIEND, and he puts on the bulldog head and the IRA FAITHFUL GOES WILD
I have IRA in a close one, I believe the tradition of KNOWING how to win pays off.

Bulldogs (Ira) - 46
Cardinals (Hermleigh) - 42

Hermleigh VS Ira what a game this will be and what implications it has. The loser would have to play 2 time defending state champ Crowell in the 1st round. What a battle of coaches kinda new school vs old school. 21 years is a long time but times do change. Will the cardinal soar ? The best football player in the game is on the cardinals side will that be enough ? I will take the cardinals by 12.

I will give Hermleigh credit the coach has come to the program expecting to win and not play second fiddle to anyone. I have seen at places where year one they play the moral card and the cardinals are not doing that. The Ira bull dogs have tradition and 21 years going for them. With that being said 21 times in a row and tradition are hard to over come the experienced Ira by 10.

The last Hermleigh win came in 1997, not quite 21 years.
The last 4 quarter game occurred in 1998 with the Bulldogs winning a close one. Hermleigh did move down to 11 man in the mid 2000's and they didn't play for a couple years.

Good luck to both teams and looks like it could be a mud bowl.

GO DOGS!

Hermleigh might be the better team. Ira getting them at home on what may be a very sloppy field may be enough to tip the game to their favor. Kinda wish I could be there as this promises to be a very fun contest to watch as a neutral observer....

I don't know anything about Ira this year other than Morris is gone. I saw Hermleig's only loss of the year. They are not just about Coletyn King. They have some pretty good size and are a SR/JR laden team with some other speed. They can play defense. Other than that 1st game and Motley County's 28 the have allowed 8,8,8,6,6 and 0 points, and have 45'd 6 of 8 opponents. Ira is undefeated. They have 45'd 2 opponents, 3 of their wins were by less than 10.
Hermleigh's one loss was to current Tapps Divison 1 #1 Rockwall Heritage in the 1st game of the year.
I'd not be a neutral observer as I think they have a great coach, who's a pretty good guy too. I'd love to see this one. In spite of 18 years of tradition, Card's by One, at least.

I have a little different personal take on the coach....but he is a very good coach....

Understandable if your from Gordon in light of his leaving there. I wondered about why Coach Burkhart of RS really backed out on taking the job afterwards.

I bet it will be a great game. Ira does have a winning tradition, strong coaching and quality players. It appears to me that the new coach at Hermleigh has the Cardinals tuned up and using their talent to near their full potential. My guess is that there will be several lead changes, but that Hermleigh will finish on top in a hard fought and very close battle.

Not so much that he left but the timing, the reason, and then back in the game so soon afterwards. And where he landed and then left and where landed again....Did I mention I think he's a really good coach?

I have a wild a$$ guess....but that's all it is....I am not involved in the local gossip (on purpose).
I suspect he and his wife may be the only ones who really know. I do think he's a really good coach too!
It worked out for the best, getting a homeboy for the job. I think Coach Joe is the perfect guy for the job!!

Both teams rank in the top 25 in the overall rankings.
#11 Hermleigh favored by 9 over #22 Ira.

No other game of all the teams in the top 50 (overall rankings), have a spread of less than 16.
The closest is #12 Motley County favored by 16 over #32 Paducah.
