Wonderful article and wonderful story of redemption. May God continue to guide Tyler and his family.
When I was growing up, there was a kid in my high school that played basketball and was almost a carbon copy of Pete Maravich ... down to the droopy socks, and he could shoot the basketball like a rocket. Had the Wisconsin prep record until about 10 years ago (and back then, there was no 3-point basket, because if we had, he'd still have that record). Had a great opportunity until he found drugs and booze his senior year and bounced from college to college.
The day after Pres Reagan was shot (1981), I'm reading a newspaper account of the shooting and here is the guy being interviewed as an eyewitness. Finally, he got treatment for his illnesses and is a relatively functional adult today.
Reading the story of young Mr. Etheridge, I see the story of my friend (which turned into a book a few years ago https://www.wissports.net/news_article/show/302067 ), but I hope it turns out to be much more of a blessing for Tyler and his family.
