Hot fun in the Summertime

Summer offically started a week ago yesterday. Here in central Texas it's 102 this afternoon, that's getting pretty official.
DCTF's out. Annual all star games coming up soon along with the coaches association clinic in beautiful Lubbock. Sunday is 2 months from Hico. 2 a day's are not far away. I guess the road to December started with spring workouts. But now is where dedication proves itself. No coaching allowed. Are the players sleeping till noon and playing video games or surfing the web the rest of the day? Well some of that's a good thing, enjoy some of the summer while you get them "off".
Running some now (early while it's cooler) can save you a world of hurt the first few days of 2 a days (can you say dry heaves?). Tossing the ball around with team mates, running routes/plays help it all come together better later.
Hydrate. Enjoy the freedom. I can smell the season around the corner. Well, I can smell sweat when I'm outside more than a few minutes.

Guess maybe Mr. Granger might have got a little hot under the collar yesterday. Austin set a record for the date at 109, 4 degrees off the all time record for there. And it's still June. "Only" 99 when I left work yesterday. "Just" 97 today (now).
Regarding that "world of hurt" in my first post on this thread... Know a local young man of about 20 who worked outside and his boss sold the business, he lost his job. Been looking for a while, mostly online, under the a/c. Finally took a landscaping job, laying sod to start out. After about 6 hours he started feeling sick, weak, dizzy, they had him sit in the shade the last couple of hours. Still weak and a little dizzy the next morning.
Hydration AND conditioning to the weather can make 2 a days more bearable, and productive.
