Gordon AD/Head Football Coach

Edward Golden

Six-man fan
The new AD/HC is Joe Kostiha.

Joe is a 1999 graduate of Gordon HS. He played on the 96 State Championship team.

He has coached at Groveton, Bridgeport, Ennis, and Alvarado.

He played college fb and track at Beloit College in Wisconsin.

He is also the nephew of Nelson Campbell's wife.

Good Luck Joe!!!!

I have no doubt that Coach Kostiha will do an an excellent job at Gordon. The community of Gordon just hit the jackpot with their new hire.

This news has a lot of Gordon Alums VERY excited. He is a great individual with a great football background and should be a really good fit for Gordon.

There are a few names like that around Gordon, Mingus, and Strawn linked back to the days of Thurber. I think there were something like 16 nationalities represented at the Thurber coal mines at one time.

As Eddie G well knows Walter and Dolly through Dolly's dad owned Lovera's, the town grocery store in Strawn between them for around 100 years. Until about 5 years ago. I't's a classic little place. With a cut it to order meat counter. Heard they used to slaughter out back in the begining before they moved the building to hwy 16. They used to get call's from Mary's on really busy nights for more meat or when a hi-roller came to town and wanted a bunch or t-bones or rib eyes. Walter used to deliver to the elderly and they had a lot of unpaid tabs from the underpriveleged.

One old timer once tol me
that he thought my house
may have come from Thurber.
Imagine that.

I hope Kostiha
coaches there about 20 years!
This will test the old adage about going home.
