In the Hill County hamlet of Abbott, every boy from elementary up through middle school dreams of one day wearing those bright, golden hats adorned by the Abbott Panthers football team.
If you look closely, though, you’ll see that the Panthers are golden-domed even when they remove their helmets. In a show of solidarity, the Abbott players have kicked off every postseason since 2008 by bleaching their heads blond.
“It’s like our mojo,” senior running back Cade Ramsey said. “It’s just lets everybody know we’re in the playoffs, and we’re ready to do business.”
