Noticed on another thread where I saw Watauga Harverst TAPPS # 2 vs. Covington was scheduled today. (this will be over at half with Watauga Harvest winning)
My guess-tamation is Watauga Harvest will be Pre-Season #1 in TAPPS in 2015 with Geneva Moving to 11 man.

Would much rather have Watauga Harvest vs. Abbott or Blum.

A few years back the top privates played the top uil's (Throck-Dallas Cov) / (Valley-Dallas Cov)

So my question is, Are there ANY HUGE non district SHOWDOWNS.
I'm guessing there will be some in the kickoff classics (last year Jayton had Valley vs. Ira)
 
Watauga Harvest will be a great test for Covington. I'm not sure about the game being over at the half. Watauga lost some very good senior players, but they also return several athletes at the skill positions. Don't count Coach Ware and Covington out. Should be a good early season test for both teams. I would say the more intriguing part is Watauga playing a public school team. I love it when private schools get UIL squads on the schedule. Should be a good game!
 
WOW!!! So there is a great possibility that the pre-season #1 in the State will be in our district. I look forward to that challenge.

When does Waco Live Oak and Methodist Home play Calvert? I'd be very interested to see those games; we play Calvert on Sept 4th at home.
 
Live Oak plays Calvert Fri, Sept. 25th @ Calvert and then LO plays Blum the next week in Blum, Oct 2nd.

Tough 2 week stretch for the Falcons.

That is a pretty tough stretch. When does Methodist Home play Calvert?
 
We have High Island and Apple Springs on our schedule. I think for us those should be really good tests. This will actually be the first time I've coached at a private school that is playing a UIL squad. The tougher the schedule, the more battle tested we will be.....
 
I'm not so sure that the Watauga vs Covington game will be over at half. While Watauga had a great run last year but they did lose a bunch of talent and have to many holes to fill. They may have lost to many key players to be favored to win district. Watauga lost their QB, RB and at least a couple DB's and a couple DL's. Hard to replace that many positions in six man unless you have a large squad which Wataugua didn't. Midland will be ready as will Rockwall. The south has a couple teams that will be ready to make a push and have the talent to go very deep in state. I wouldn't rank Watauga #1 so dont get to excited that they will be in your district. They will be competitive but could be .500 team. Playing a public school they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

These should be VERY good. I do recall the Borden County / Crowell game a few years back at Jayton. Was a game where Crowell found their Identity and never looked back.

Valley / Ropes should be an offensive show.

I give Ira the edge over Guthrie but should be good to watch
 
I believe the UIL top 5 teams are USUALLY (not all the time) too well coached, better players and a better understanding of how to win over the private schools.

Now once you start dipping into that UIL 25 and below, then I think the top 1-7 private schools match up well with those schools.

Dallas The Covenant a few years back was that one school that could match up and beat the top uil schools as they did with Throckmorton and Valley.

I would like to see more top private schools play more uil schools. Maybe someone will start a kickoff classic and invite the top private schools to play.
teams such as

Fredericksburg Heritage........would love to see Shipman coach against a uil state caliber coach.
Longview Trinity
Wylie Prep......would love to see Uland match wits with a uil state coach as well.
Midland Trinity (who plays UILs each year due to the area)
Azle Christian.....this program has honestly been the most dominating in private school... Their like the energizer bunny, they just keep winning and winning and winning.
Waco Live Oak ....... YES THEY PLAY THE CALVERTS and I think they've added Blum.
Stephenville Faith......has been playing pretty good UIL caliber teams.
 
I think our Week 2 game vs Calvert could be a good game to watch. It will be an early season measuring stick for our team and its progress.

I believe MCH and Calvert play Sept. 18 in Waco
 
Oglesby vs. Rising Star @ Zephyr. Oglesby lost a couple seniors but have really solid guys coming up, they will be as good as the previous year.
