Finally, odonnell wises up

JAFO

Six-man fan
Good for odonnell for forfeiting their first game because of the actions of players and making the whole team suffer. Maybe if they did it last year this would not have happened this year. I won't give the reason , action speaks louder than words. Bet they don't have problems for a long time. Especially since the criminals from last year have transferred or graduated. I applaud the odonnell coach and admin for taking that stand.

you disgust me a small school struggles, you are eaten up with hate, remember we reap what we sew.
10 young men cant play though they wanted to...

Everyone note the "Self Righteous Police" have not left the forum. I wonder what it is like to be perfect ? Although I am close it seems I don't hold a candle to JAFO……

Judgement from afar and of ignorance seem to be his specialty.

Oh and just a note that would be O'Donnell - not odonnell.

Finally is right!

The hubby's nephew says that one of the football players in Odonnell posted about the actions on facebook and many of the other players liked it, thus letting the world know what they were doing.

New coaches and admin levied the circumstances that are in the new athlete's rules.

From last years non-actions, I would have assumed that they had no rules down there.

Sound like they are trying to make a change for the better.

Yes, the self righteous hate police is out. Yes I do hate it when kids go out and steal committing crimes. They should be kicked off athletics. Yes I do hate when a coach allegedly is arrested for drugs . That so called coach has no respect for you or your kids . Yes I do hate when a ref was fired from his state job at a prison for involvement with inmates putting lives of coworkers in danger, all for drugs and money. I applaud the coach for taking a stand and teaching those kids what a team means and discipline. You can watch Lubbock news and see the story about it. I imagine it's online somewhere about it.

Too bad you're too dumb to post the link to back yourself up, JAFO.

I'm no O'Donnell fan. Matter of fact, there are some up there that don't like me much. But, I would imagine it isn't really any of my business, or anyone else's, how they handle or don't handle their discipline problems. I would hope that those in charge up there will do what they know the situation requires and not worry about what the yahoos on an Internet board think.

As far as all the casting of stones by JAFO goes, I bet if he would come out from behind his Internet user name many of the folks in this part of the world would know who he is. I bet that the skeletons in his closet would be plumb shocking. Of course, it would take courage to get on here and let everyone know who he is. Me thinks that is a commodity that JAFO is in short supply of.

O'Donnell, Tx -
On Thursday O'Donnell school officials say their first varsity football game scheduled for Friday will be forfeited because of athlete misconduct.

The school district released a written statement saying "Due to the conduct of student athletes that was contrary to the O'Donnell Independent School District's extra-curricular code of conduct, the District has determined that it is in the District's best interest to forfeit its home varsity football game against Southland ISD scheduled for August 31, 2012."

The District's superintendent and O'Donnell High School principal turned down on-camera interviews with KCBD and would not comment further on what the misconduct involved.

Sources told KCBD several of the teen football players were caught drinking alcohol. That same source says a handful of the players were suspended for one game and one varsity player was kicked off the team.

Thursday's JV game against Southland was played as scheduled. School officials say Friday's game is the only game they plan to forfeit.

This one says nine of their eighteen players were suspended. Maybe the other nine played in the JV game.

Another good thing for Odonnell and South Land is that Odonnell has enough players for them to fill the spots so that South Land didn't have to look for another game or possibly not have one.

Hubby's nephew said from the looks of the parking lot, there were lots of Odonnell people there. To see what was going to happen I guess?

So what really happened with this football game with O'Donnell suspending 9 or 10 players? I just got wind of it from a friend back in Lubbock. And what is O'Donnell doing playing 6 man? I thought O'Donnell had over 150 to 170 enrollment in High school.. I remember when my aunt who now lives in Lamesa graduated in 1970, classes ranged from 35 to 45 per class 9 through 12 in the mid to late 70's, with jr high classes close around 40 per class. And in some jr high classes they were averaging about 45 to 50 in the mid 70's then in the 80's classes stayed steady around 30 to 35 per graduation class... I know for a fact from visiting with friends throughout the years that even in the 90's they had some great 11 man football years making the playoffs often and going deep. Even in 2000, 2001, 2002 and mid 2000's they were good not only in football but basketball from what my cousin told me. I recall someone saying there was a principal name Mr Reed, not there no more, it was during that time they had some winning seasons. Isn't there a Black player name "Hunter" that plays there and was he one of the players suspended?
I remember being in Lubbock at one time, I read the newspaper and it just so happenned it was during the basketball playoffs in 1989 or 1990, it could of even been 1991 or 1988, so I went to the Texan Dome, South Plains Jr College in Levelland, and they had a heck of a basketball team had they beaten Lorenzo they would of gone to state, that's when I heard classes were like 30 to 35 per graduation class.

At the risk of getting some peoples panties in a tightwad, I won't comment other than say you are right. Criminals don't care about their crimes until their name is made public.

Like all other small West Texas towns, O'Donnell has lost a lot of population as the kids that grew up there in the 80's left for the cities. With no oilfield jobs to speak of and farming getting ever more automated, there was not enough left to keep very many there.

Hey Minooka, Ilinois, did you go to school in O'Donnell? I recently spoke to a girl who is a hair dresser in Lubbock for Pro Cuts, and she graduated from O'Donnell in 1999, she said her class was 39 and the year before her was 37, and the class above her was like the largest at 40 I think.... Wow, times have changed over the years, she also went on to say that in 2001 O'Donnell went to the state regionals in basketball and won like 30 plus games before getting beat in the finals in Regionals.. Amazing! I guess kids are moving on instead of staying... getting educated and looking for good jobs after high school graduation...

I graduated from Garden City in 1974. Not many nuclear power jobs in that part of the world.

Dang, you're an old fart OBK.
We must maintain a quieter and gentler tone ... Good rule of thumb, "Never make a guy mad who works around nuclear materials".

Unless he finds a way to transport those materials home to GC with him, I ain't too worried about it.

Matter of fact, I haven't gotten an old fart shot in on OBK in months. He was probably starting to wonder if I was OK.
