ESPN sports talk show 98.1 FM (Abilene area)

Listening to 98.1 FM (ESPN Sports Feed ) this morning out of Abilene and some guest was promoting an area football scoreboard show. He said " scores from 5- A all the way down to our "Little Buddies" in 6- Man.

He obviously didn't see the Throckmorton vs Rotan game. Throckmorton team had 3 players that could have started for any 5-A Team that I have ever seen and played both offense and defense.

They don't even see the sixman team that plays in Abilene.

At least they're acknowledging six man football exists. The Lubbock AJ has dropped six man coverage from their weekly stats leaders and players of the week.

Lubbock is so laughably conceited as a city. They want so bad to be a little Dallas. All they've gotten right about being a big city is horrific drivers and traffic jams.

I've lived in and around Lubbock for the last 15 years and I don't recall many traffic jams. Kcbd has a sports guy named Pete Christy who covers sixman better than any other outlet...goes out of his way from time to time. As for the paper, the reason they don't cover is usually we don't send anything in. I admit, didn't like Lubbock much at first, but feel now it's a great place to live and raise a family.

I used to call in stats. For 13 years. Lubbock paper was hit or miss as to if they would put it in the paper. Amarillo always put our game reports in. It's not just that people don't call.

The few times I've been there the traffic was nothing compared to Dallas, Houston, San Antone or even Austin.

Techster, Pete does a hell of a good job covering all the area sports and teams. KCBD sends more cameras to sixman games than the rest of the Lubbock and Midland/Odessa stations combined. I'll brag on Pete every chance I get.

That being said, the Lubbock AJ has really started to suck the last couple of years.

If YOU don't send it in,

how will they ever know?

Dallas isn't as bad as people make it out to be. They just tend to travel at the wrong time of day and get stuck in traffic (generally on 635) and even people from Dallas will tell you to avoid 635 at all costs. I will say this the Dallas Morning News has Six-Man scores in it every Saturday morning which is more than what I can say about some papers. Lubbock is a far cry from Dallas and in my opinion it will stay that way.

Two probable reasons Lubbock paper stopped, don't have space, and they can't even get scores correct. It's not a quality paper anymore. We just watch Pete on KCBD .

He is simply the best.
Too bad KCBD isn't state wide.
There are Six-Man schools all across the state of Texas that would kill for the coverage Pete Christi gives.

I need to gripe about the Lubbock AJ more often. They actually covered some sixman games with blurbs and box scores this morning. Of course, Tech has a bye this week. They didn't have to publish the extra three pages of that used car salesman quotes from Tuberville.
