Ebola Rumors

Hey, all you folks who live in the Metromess, I've been hearing some very nasty rumors from several different sources about the Ebola mess at Dallas Presby.

1) Nurses there are going on a wildcat strike today about the run-around they are getting from management on how to handle cases.

2) Management there has told ALL employees to stop texting/emailing anything about Ebola and they have reserved the right to look at cell phones and email accounts at any time.

3) 5 or 6 nurses and one doctor who treated the Liberian are being monitored right now and all have a slight fever.

4) A possible Ebola patient has been admitted to Parkland

5)Dallas County is about to declare a disaster and lock down on movement by all healtcare workers who have been in contact with any of the above Ebola patients.

6) The above declaration also leaves open the option to clamp down on all movement by everyone in the county.

7) Rumor has it that there is a possible Ebola case from Belton who is in the high school there.

We are being fed media ratings boosted propaganda. They have grabbed a hold of this situation and are riding it to the bank. It is now effecting the stock market and getting politicians up on soap boxes. It is true they need to be better prepared for this in the chance that it might happen again, but for anyone other than those immediately involved to be panicked is unfounded.

Nurse speaks out on TODAY Show

“The federal government is weighing putting those who treated Duncan on a list that would prohibit them from being able to fly, an official familiar with the situation told CNN.

In June 2007, federal agencies developed a public health Do Not Board list, which allowed domestic and international public health officials to request that people with communicable diseases who meet specific criteria and pose a serious threat to the public be restricted from taking commercial flights departing from or arriving in the United States. The CDC and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security manage the Do Not Board list. “

So follow me here.

American citizens who have been in the vicinity of an Ebola patient, particularly healthcare workers, would be considered “a serious threat to the public” even though;

1. They have simply been around people with Ebola but,
2. They are not exhibiting signs of the disease.

These individuals (who demonstrate no symptoms of Ebola) may soon be placed on a “Do Not Board List” by the Center for Disease Control and Department of Homeland Security.

Meanwhile, non-citizens, people from West Africa who are now:

1. Surrounded by an “out of control” Ebola virus outbreak,
2. Who are living in countries saturated with Ebola due to its rampant community spread,
3. Who are not now showing symptoms of the disease yet,
4. Are free to travel to America, plus wherever they like to in America without restrictions after they get here.

A sane Federal government would have put all passengers from Ebola Pandemic affected West African nations on a “Do Not Board List” long past. Yet they are not sane, and it gets worse.

Not only is this “American Citizens With Ebola Only “Do Not Board List” a dumb policy that destroys the credibility of the Federal Government in time of crisis when it is needed most. It is law suit bait on equal protection grounds in Federal court. Yet both Obama and Congressional Democrats, plus a few Republicans, support limiting AMERICAN CITIZENS rights to travel, but not that of WEST AFRICANS.

What we are seeing here is the outstanding symptom of a mental illness called OPEN BORDERS DERANGMENT SYNDROME. A mental illness shared by 99.5% of Democrats and the Republican leadership in the US Senate.

A political identity based mental illness now set to kill lots of Americans by Ebola for the sake of cheap immigrant labor now and future Democratic votes later (like 2016 via voter fraud enabled by Democratic Party opposition to Voter ID laws).

Now tell me again how the 0bama admin and democrats in general are looking out for the general welfare of the nation......

The Texas highway Department on eviromentalist advice spent a zillion dollars placeing culverts across hwy 71 so the d--mn toads dont get squashed, then a forest fire wiped the pekerwoods out in about 1 hour
Nature at work.....

Belton is my neck of the woods, and I will tell you what has been announced and published
1) 2 Kids were on the Flight with the nurse on Monday
2) The kids went to school Tuesday and Wednesday
3) They 2 kids went to school at North Belton Middle school and Sparta Elementary. There is also and Exchange through Sparta for Beltons Early Childhood School.
3) While considered Low risk, the kids were not forced to stay home for 21 days, however the parents decided it was best. I’m sure they worked something out to avoid truancy issues.
4) Before 9:00pm Wednesday, Belton along with the Helth department and CDC said it was safe to go to school the next day.
5) Sometime after 9 pm they decided that maybe that wasn't a good Idea and changed things.
6) All 3 Schools were closed today for Disinfecting.
7) At 2 pm Belton was having a council meeting to discuss the current status of the 3 schools.
8) Temple ISD meet today to discuss training for early identification of the virus and some other stuff.
9) At 6:30 tonight a rep from Baylor Scott and White will be hosting a town hall meeting to discuss the virus thats in our area.

You will find most of the at kwtx.com or the temple daily telegram.

To add some facts to the conversation... The CDC policies on handling the disease are very complex and complicated (they need to be). The disrobing (taking your protective suit) protocol alone has 40 steps. It is hard to imagine this protocol was followed to the letter by the staff in the early days. To that end, the hospital also had too many people responsible for the initial patient, which leads to the probability of errors.

I know for a fact that if a patient arrives in Austin presenting with the disease, there will be 1/2 as many people making contact. This is a very serious disease. The CDC is doing the best they can. The problem is that humans make errors.

I've heard that the CDC has banned all health care workers that took care of the first patient from flying now. But we still haven't stopped flights from west Africa?

Yes, that is true. It is the same for nuclear workers coming in and out of contaminated areas. One mistake, and you get crapped up. The big problem is that this hospital and all but 4 maybe 5 hospitals in the whole nation are not trained up and ready to take ebola or any other highly infectious diseases.

What galls me more than anything else is the cavalier attitude the current administration takes toward containing it. They are more interested in blaming someone else and covering their butts than stepping up and taking responsibility and action. All we have gotten from them on multiple fronts is lies, lies and more lies, so why should we start believing them now?

The FIRST step should have been to ban entry by ALL people from the affected nations in West Africa. Those that do show up are either sent back or put in tight quarantine. It is pretty obvious that Duncan spent his life savings to get to the US because he knew he was infected and wanted to get taken care of at our expense. Those kind of refugees should be sent back to the hell holes they came from. American citizens exposed are put in a 21 day quarantine period, no exceptions, and it should be enforced at the point of a gun if necessary. You don't let people like that so-called MD for NBC news break quarantine just because she wanted a latte.

We have a good friend whose 3rd oldest child is very sick right now from that viral disease brought in by all the so-called "children" 0bama has let flood across the border the last 5 months and dispersed to every corner of the nation. he wants illegal voters more than he cares about the health and well being of the taxpaying citizens of this nation.

I hate to say this, but a white man (say Bill Clinton) as President had perpetrated this crap, he would have been impeached and convicted, along with every member of his administration over 2 years ago.

Yes, I AM BITTER ABOUT THIS!!

Completely true. 0bama is less popular in Africa than George W, so he does not want to look mean. Ignoring the fact that every other African nation has banned entry by folks from the affected nations. Every action they are taking is designed to make them look good, no matter how effective it is at stopping the problem.
