Scrimmages are over, hope there were no major injuries. Strike up the band, well not many bands in sixman. But the season is upon us! Hooray! Everybody's undefeated right now. No one's tasted defeat, or, victory.
C'mon Mr. Guru Sir, where's those spreads so we have something to bicker about?

There was at least one season ending injury. Happened to a young man from Fannindel. I believe he got his femur broken during a scrimmage against Savoy.

The kid from Fannindell did not break his femur. I was there and was called onto the field since I am a medic. He had a badly displaced knee but his femur was fine. Very well could have been a football ending injury. Sad news since he was only a freshman.

Sure did not look like a femur fracture to me. Of course I don't have x-ray vision either. It is a bad deal either way hate to see kids get injured before they even play their first game.

Agreed. It is hard seeing any young man get hurt. I was told he was a freshmen. He has talent and i believe he was a starter. Hopefully he will be able to return in the future.

Injuries are tough for all concerned no matter the time of year or grade.
Here's to health and safety for all the players, coaches and fans this year, in games and traveling.
Time to pull the straps tight, take a deep breath, and start hittin!

I thought it looked like a knee dislocation too but we got an email today from Fannindel that said it was a broken femur and required surgery and screws. Either way it was pretty bad. What was nice to see was how both coaching staffs immediately came together to get help for the kid and keep the other kids calm. Both coaching staffs were class acts

No. My nephew plays for Saint Jo. My youngest son graduated last year. I just can't get enough of the sixman game though. Yes both coaches did a great job and prayers go out to that kid. Even with that bad of an injury he was still in good spirits.

It's really gratifying to me to see the game grow in that area, my parent's had a place between Nocona and Montague from the 70's through 90's. I went to a playoff game between Strawn and St. Jo in 08, I think their 1st year in sixman. A guy expressed frustration at 45'ing someone one week then getting 45'd the next. I was really surprised when Forrestburg started playing.
I became addicted in the late 90's at Strawn where my wife is from.

Oh yes I remember well the first year in sixman. My oldest son was a sophmore that year. I remember it being a touchy subject about Saint Jo moving "down" to sixman. No one really bought into it until we started winning and then everyone was excited and realized we actually moved "up". Then we made the playoffs against Strawn and they drove all the way to our field got off the bus and kicked our tails and got back on the bus and went home. Most people knew we didn't have a chance at playing to their level but no one really cared because we made the playoffs and it had been a long time since that had happened. I have three more years where I have someone in my family that actually plays but you will be hard pressed to keep me away from going to six man games as long as I am able to go. My wife often jokes at why I like Cowboy so much is because I am exactly like him. Lol. Without the Mohawk of course.

Don't feel bad, your only playoff loss that year was to the eventual State Champs (not often I get to brag on these guy's anymore). Your post is classic IMHO. A lot of towns out there that continue to hold on to 11 man that loose year after year but could compete in sixman. I guess that's the ultimate question for them, to learn to be competitive, as life is, or not. SIXMANROCKS

PS. Mentioning CP could mean trouble. He's half owner of a competitive site to this one.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but we're not exactly competitive to this site. We're just trying to add a little recognition for the boys that are busting their tails for 12 to 17 weeks a year. They deserve it. Our primary objective is publishing pics on facebook, the website is just an addendum to that.

Plus they post about me and advertise my site all the time, right?

;)

I hope that's the right emoji. I need a google translate for those things.

BTW, the spreads have been on the front page for a couple of weeks (original topic).
