Dave Campbell

Allow me to explain one or two things here...

1. This year has the most six-man coverage the magazine probably has ever had
a). The word counts given to the writers for the articles and the 2013 Notes for each team was larger than they have been the last 3 years and dare I say ever.
b). This year I talked them into bringing back the preseason coaches poll
c). This year they included six-man all time record holders in the back...which took 3 years of asking and begging to get...not to mention the countless hours of researching that went into it (years worth)

2. When it comes to each teams 2013 Notes...What you see is what you get...if coaches and schools turn in a lot of information...those teams will get a lot of information written about them...if they turn in little or no information, then very little will be written about them. Same goes with player stats and info.
a). There are deadlines for EVERYTHING you see in there, team capsules, rankings, top 10s, district predictions and so on...and those deadlines will come and go and you will be missing a fair amount of teams' info sheets because they have not been filled out and turned in yet...so again you can only work with what you have.

3. Editor has final say...and can cut down write-ups as he sees fit to make room in other areas...or so he can add in extra stuff...like a coaches poll top 10...

I would LOVE for them to have a 2,000 word preview article for six-man...or even a 1,000...I'll see what I can do...

If I remember correctly
(and I always do)
I rekolekt numerous suggestions
for us to get our stuff in
cuz deadlines wuz approachin'.
jus sayin'

I think the edition was AWESOME!
Leman 4 Pres.
Jus gotta figger out Pres. of what.

I just started reading this magazine this morning. Have to say it is a well written , enjoy reading it. I agree with their college predictions for Texas Tech, Bottom of the 10. From what I saw at the earlier spring game, they suck. It was absolutely horrible. Everybody looked like they lost hope 30 minutes after the game started and like me , was leaving before the halftime. The only comment I have is coaches reporting kids height and weight. What do they report, the size as freshmen ? But I do understand why you want them to look small, not giving away the real truth.. I don't mind paying the 11.00 for the magazine. The customers and kids enjoy reading it too.

Great job Leman, the 35 corridor a few years back never mentioned 6 man football in their newspapers sports sections. I believe one thing that really helped, in the Austin area at least, was when Richland Springs was able to get a couple of games with Austin Regents when they were 6 man. This was started by a ranch in San Saba county owned by a Austin clan that had kids playing at Regents. Slowly but surely people will figure out 6 man is tops....

Great job Leman. Thoroughly enjoyed all the six man coverage. Thought it was great and worth the $$. Thanks for all that hard work, though I'm sure you got handsomely paid for it!!

We are very happy with the magazine and sincerely appreciate all the hard work you put in.

As much as we love six-man football, let's realize that if, for some reason, DCTF, decided to skip 6 man althogether, I seriously doubt that sales of the magazine and their ancillary products would decrease noticeably.

Think about it ... there are about 300 six-man football schools in Texas. Let's say each school has an average of 60 kids. That's 18,000 students. My guess is you add up the enrollment of any 5A UIL district and you would have a number higher than that.

The best things we can do to help keep and expand six-man coverage is get information to Leman on time and to communicate to DCTF our appreciation for the work that they (and Leman) do every year. Would be nice if my fellow private school friends would work as hard on their end.

Just happy to be in there at all, to be honest. Baby steps.

I think after being in the book for the past 30 years baby steps shouldnt be needed! haha

Hats of Leman for carrying the Six-Man torch. I know a TON of time and effort went into putting the six-man portion together. When you are in his position you really stick your neck out for what you believe in. And there will ALWAYS be someone ready to chop away once it is out there. I think the sport is represented very well in the magazine.

Dear Leman
since this is all for fun and I'm sure you've since found some new hidden info on the majority of all districts
Please share what you would change

Inquiring minds want to know
