Does anyone know how they get the preseason rankings for each district. What genius picked Garden City to come in 3rd in district 5. I could see maybe 2nd because there is some good talent in the district but 3rd. I will be back in November to tell you I told you so or to give apologies

Nobody said they meant anything smokey,but because it is put in a publication that sales thousand of copies someone has to give their 2 cents on how the teams should be ranked. I was just wondering if it is someone that actually has seen a 6 man game of some 11 man writer that draws names out of a hat. I'm guessing its the sports writer if they picked GC 3rd in this district

I kind of like us picked third. Makes for some determined and pissed off Bearkats! Besides if my memory serves me right we were picked 3rd in district in 2009. We all know how that turned out.

all three tied of the district championship last year...you could say they all tied for third as well...in a district you could literally put three names in the hat and draw them...bet it will be about the same this year. District preseason picks were turned in when GC had an open coaching spot (coaching changes are the last thing edited before print) so at the time it was turned in Marfa still had Jones. A lot more goes into it than you think and different parts have their own deadlines and last second edits are done that changes things up...but I digress...I'll say it again...all three team you could have put the names in a hat last year and drawn...and this year i bet those three will be battling it out just the same...sorry someone has to be picked third.

So in the 3 years Garden City is 7-2 in this district. They out scored this district in the last 3 years 441-214. "Well someone has to be third" thats genius. Why would you pick the team that has never finish 3rd in the district in this district.

I told you so. Garden City dominated the district a far cry from 3rd. Like I said earlier this earlier these year not sure if it is an 11 man sports writer that pick these thing but let me help you for next year. District Champs in Jr High. District champs with J.V. Never mind pick us 3rd again it worked pretty well for us this year.

1st I'm sure they are being compensated for their time. They are not doing it out of the kindness of their heart.

2nd if you consider yourself and and expert enough to make the prediction your should have thick enough skin when a ex Bearkat disagrees with you.

Again have no problem if they pick us 2nd the teams in the district are getting more competitive, but to say we are going to miss the playoffs is crazy.

More years ago than I really care to think about, the coaches ranked their own district for DCTF. You would rank them in the order you expected them to finish leaving yourself out of the ranking. The magizine would compile each district and you would have their official ranking for each district. Do they still do it this way? I have no clue. To be honest I no longer care. Pre-season rankings really mean nothing, what matters is making the playoffs. Now that is important.
