Pretty sure I already know but I'll ask anyway. If your in trips spread can the guy off of the line in the trips crack cut the spread rusher?
Like fron the outide run in and cut block

According to the officials we had 2 weeks ago as long as they are inside the 3 yard X 5 yard "tackle Box" they can block anywhere they want to. In the back, below the waist. But if they are outside the box and crack it must be above the waist and in the front!

No, you can't. It's possible you would even be called for a clip, and far too risky to even try. You don't have to destroy someone to make a block on them. Crack-cuts are to the ACL what a .38 special is to the cranium.

Can you define your crack block? DO you just mean a good "upper body" from the "front", "unforseen by the defense" block?

:)

The "tackle box" provision is last year's rule. This year, there is no such thing in regards to BBW(which is what an illegal crack is). Anyone who is 7+ yards from the snapper at the time of the snap is referred to as a "restricted player." As a restricted player, you are only allowed to block low towards your adjacent(closest) sideline or along a North/South line that runs down the field from the end lines. This restriction lasts for the ENTIRE play and ANYWHERE on the field. In previous years, there was a 15-yard limit and after the 15 yards, anyone could low block at anytime. This year, that allowance is gone. If you're restricted, you're restricted for the entire play. If you're UNrestricted(inside the 7-yard limit or a back that is not in motion), you can low block anywhere on the field in any direction at any time.

In your scenario, as long as the block is above the waist and not in the back, it's a clean block.

Actually Backs who have any part of their body outside of the Tackle Box are also "restricted"

Jason, the last memo i saw from Redding said 50% was restricted, less was unrestricted. That was pretty early in the season Do you know of a more recent interpretation?

The rule books states that only backs who are "completely" inside the tackle box may legally block below the waist. This is on page FR-84. 9-1-6 Exception 2 (b) The only memo that RR put out was the one clarifying when the defense could block below the waist.
