Was cooking supper last night after watching UFC champ Chris Weidman destroy another Brazilian challenger. I kept hearing my 11 year old son hoopin and hollerin in the living room like we all do when an exciting game is being played. After five or ten minutes he called me in to show me something. Expecting to see a game replay, I was staggered when I realized he had a frame paused of Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. So I watched. She was interviewing a speech writer for President Ronald Reagan. We watched her for several minutes. Afterwards, I looked over and asked Braxton why he was so impressed by her show. He explained how she was a unique combination of pretty and smart and tough-sounding all in one person. He went on to say he wished he could find a girl like that. And then he said, "Dad, bet you wish mom was that way." I was shocked and impressed by his reasoning. I expected him to say something like I would have said at that age. Something shallow and perhaps a little physical.

It was time to eat so we paused the show. Later after he went outside to play, I replayed the interview and was inspired.
She said this was one of the moments that made her the person she was today. She read a quote from Reagan he spoke after losing his bid for president in 1976.

I WILL LIE ME DOWN AND BLEED A WHILE, AND THEN I WILL RISE AND FIGHT AGAIN.

If we could match Megyn up with someone like UFC Champion Chris Weidman, this country would have leaders the likes of Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. People who would lead us through the wilderness all the way to the Promised Land.

PS: ...he does have a mom that way. Good way.
