The Geneva School of Boerne (2A, Div. 1 6-man), a private, Classical model Christian school located in Boerne, just northwest of San Antonio, is seeking an experienced football coach with a demonstrated Christian faith for a full-time coaching position. The coach filling this role will have team coaching responsibilities throughout the school year; however, I am specifically looking for someone to replace me as defensive coordinator. I would also prefer my replacement to have experience coaching offensive and defensive linemen. This is not a situation where I am bailing out with the cupboard bare. Our returning defensive unit should be stout as most return from a squad that averaged giving up just over 20 points a game, and which forced 47 turnovers, 13 for touchdowns. Of note, Geneva will likely be moving to 11-man football at the junior high level within the next couple of years in order to prepare for a forced move up to 11-man at the high school level in 4 to 6 years. Anyone with 11-man experience or experience working in programs making this transition will be preferred.
In order to make this a full-time position, the coach hired for this position will have lunch playground duty on a rotating basis with other coaches, 6th grade boys PE two days a week, administrative duties as needed, and summer hours. The team coaching responsibilities will depend on the experience of the person who fills this position. Currently, we have openings at various levels for basketball, volleyball, track, tennis, and soccer. There will be no classroom teaching responsibilities for this position. Qualified candidates should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree, experience coaching middle and/or high school students, and excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be required to sign the Geneva Statement of Faith.
