Not football but a sixman community. Apparently, this school board mama tried to pressure teachers to change her child's grades and even pressure them to seat her child in the classroom where her child wanted. Looks like she even tried to prevent discipline.

Teachers got tired of it and filed a complaint and both the teachers and the mama got to present their cases. Board sided unanimously with the teachers.

Whaddya bet this is a helicopter parent whose child does nothing wrong.smh

Thanks for posting this article. My mother, who was a teacher at the Santo ISD in Palo Pinto county at the time, was the target of a couple of meddling mothers who didn't like the test results of their children. Of course it was the teacher's fault that the students were not inspired enough to complete assignments and perform well on exams. A school board meeting was held to hear the parents complaints but they ruled in favor of my mother and she retained her position. It was a very humiliating experience for my mother and took a lot of joy out teaching for the school. Point is that some of the parents are not fit to be parents and the children suffer as a result. School districts and teachers should not be responsible for feeding and raising their children in addition to educating them too. I'm not talking about the meals for children in need.

Good for Blackwell!

Honestly, this scenario is the biggest negative of teaching at a small school. Most sixman schools have well behaved students who care more about education than most students due to their involvement extracurriculars. Unfortunately, there are usually kids that "cannot be touched" due to their parents. It sounds like this mom was ridiculous, but probably would have prevailed if she did not go totally nuts.

Has anyone heard of 6 Man team member not getting to play because of grades? I go to a lot of 6 Man games and it looks like every member is always on the sideline or field. I think any team in the playoffs should be audited by TEA. There has to be a lot of pressure in this regard for teachers at 1A schools, where the loss of just one player could doom a team.

@klaactu

I talked to some friends in Blackwell and that is not the case here. This board member's kids are all in elementary. She's harassing teachers over elementary grades.

LOL.. didn't realize who had originally posted this topic until jimnedder responded again-- I bet you know a little about the situation without having to "talk to some friends in Blackwell"
