Best in the West

Being there is a lot of discussion on "The Beast's in the East" I thought maybe the West was feeling a little left out.. So I came up with a catchy topic name (and that took lots of brainstorming lol) and thought we could get some feedback on the "Best in the West"... Any opinions? That's really all they are at this point in the season but anyways...

1.Ira
2.Rankin
3.WV
2 and 3 could go either way. but i have my money on Ira this year. watched film on them last year and they were awesome. DCM's cover boy is gonna run wild. Just my opinion.

Are we talking about regions 1-8? Throckmorton is tops until someone dethrones them. Remember last year they were ranked number 6. I have seen thm play this and they look pretty tough.

Yes I was thinking Region 1-8, and your right on, Throck is top dog

Whatever film that you saw on Ira's playoff team from last year, discount it by a third. They may be back in form by the time the playoffs get here, but in Hico they looked like a shadow of their former selves. Valley should be included on any of your "best in the west" discussions. I'm thinking that Rankin should be #1 with Throckmorton #2.

I think BC needs to be in the discussion as well. You can't tell much on the first few games of the season remember BC last year? Comment on Ira- vastly improved in week one... They are stout
Throck has the number one spot, well deserved, we will see how week two goes with a tough Dallas team.

I'm a BC fan, but as Jekyll and Hyde as they looked Friday night, they got a ways to go before we can call them contenders. But, they have one of the best coaching staffs around, a good group of kids, and a lot of football to play before we really figure out who the contenders are.

There is still a lot of football to be played for every team, a whole lot, but there are a few teams that are good year in and year out, BC being one of those. Great coaches and great heart take a team a very long ways

in the north west region
try on these if you like
1. borden county they will be there, and strong in the playoffs,, this is just preseason to them
2. valley
3. meadow year in year out they bring it hard and physical, you know ropes just cant wait till they meet meadow in district
4. i dont really know in this district

i would like to see an all star team from each region and hear the leather pop in a few of those games against each other
good luck to all!!!

There is no beast in the East. The only beast they had moved to the West. There are any one of at least 5 teams in the West that could make it to the finals if they were in the East. My top 5 from the West, in no particular order.

1. Throck - the best until someone beats them.
2. Ira - may be down - but still better than anyone in the East.
3. BC. The Ritchie's will have everything lined out come playoff time.
4. WV - loaded with athletes
5 Valley - They're Valley. They just win. Going on 13th (or 14th?) consecutive playoff season.

That's just the regular players. Throw in the Petersburgs, the Rankins, even maybe the Meadows and the Crowell's, and the East is just lucky they have a couple of teams in the top 10. I really don't think Oakwood or Abbott are that good.

They certainly wouldn't make it out of the second round if they played in the West.

I wonder if Strawn, Gordon, or RS
would differ in opinion?
jus sayin'.
I liked it better
when,
there was jus one champ
at seasons end.
Settled things pretty well.
I agree there Bigdog, Sixman ball is Sixman ball in my opinion...

BTW Gordon is no slouch in the East, they will be a major threat come playoffs no doubt.

d1 representative for state will come from the south west region..
and i think they will be the champions of d1 as well

and for you'll that think there should not be a d1 and d2 ,, i guess you would say 1a should compete against 5a " its still 11 man"

I think there is a major difference between one or two students dividing a D1 school from a D2 school as compared to hundreds or thousands of students dividing 1A from 5A but then again I could care less about crowded field ball.
