does anyone know why all these republicans are mad that obama is speaking to students tomorrow? hes trying to encourage them, and thats a bad thing? they didnt get mad when george h.w. bush did the same thing. also, when bush jr was in office, they said, "hes the president, so i must support him, its the american way", but now they are openly hoping he fails... why so much hipocracy?

is it possible for him to brainwash kids with a 30-60 min speech? if so, how?
 
Yeah I remember when Obama came to our school and was talking to fourth graders about guns. He was slowly clapping his hands and said "Every time I clap my hands a child dies from a gun related injury." So a fourth grader in the back row says, "Well quit clappin your hands ,

Yeah, and I remember every time President Bush tried to do something for America you liberals were up and arms crying about whatever he did or tried to do. Now who's the hypocrite? You can't have it both ways. And no, Obama is not trying to give the kids a pep talk, he is trying to indoctrinate our kids. You as a parent should do your job and quit relying on someone else to do your job. Just my two cents worth.

Before you spew any more leftist talking points again, read a little history on the Fascist and Nazi movements. They were NOT right wing/conservative political creations, but leftist to the core. Read about Benito Mussolinni's early years as a member of the Italian Socialist party, learn what the acronym NAZI stands for, and then come back and tell me if there is any difference between their goals and those of the left. The only significant difference between Nazi Germany/Fascist Italy and the USSR was in the amount of private enterprise allowed.

Sixman4life i sure hope he can get these kids motivated because he is going to have to do something about doubleing our national debt. Its not going to affect us now but our kids are going to get slammed by it. There are changes that need to be made but the goverment bailing out everyone is NOT the answer.

You ever heard Pattons speech? "America loves a winner and will not tolerate a loser" I love America and i very patriotic but when you make it so that people dont lose then you start a downward spirl. Its like haveing rules that dont matter. What made America so great for so long is we had the ability to lose. Now no one loses and the goverment bails you out with tax money which is not a good thing. It only leads to one thing and we all know what that is.

I didnt vote for him and i REALLY dont like what he is doing. I love america and i will stand by till this ends and I hope its not to far. If you really want to be upset you need to look at the looneys that support Global warming and the ozone layer destruction.

There are lots of things our goverment does for us that is good. But obama just wants to make people happy and will do it without thinking. NO president should have ever even commented on something like the Ordeal with the professor getting arrested. Thats not his business and its not his concern. His concern should be running the country and trying to make it a better place. If those companies we bailed out with our tax money would have controled their actions they wouldnt be where they are now.

I am sorry to derail but this guy really gets under my skin and the gitmo thing really pushed me over the edge of trying to like him.

We had a lot of parents complain about showing NObama in our school......SO, we will not be participating in this crap. I'm sick of this guy already anyway!
 
Seriously... politicians... left wing, right wing... two arms of the same monster. The thing about politics is that it is run by politicians. They will all tell you what you want to hear to try to get elected..... You shouldnt trust any of them. Not a freakin' hairs difference between them in my opinion, and I feel we will never have a legitimate candidate until we demolish the two party system and have the candidates run on issues rather than just whether there is a donkey or an elephant in front of their name. Many people dont pay attention, and then feign outrage when their party does not win.... This country is so divided over politics that they will never come together under the current political infrastructure. There is no legitimate third party, so you have both sides telling the other side how wrong they are.

That being said, did I vote for Obama?? Hell no.... Did I vote for McCain??? Hell no... I also have the right to NOT vote until we have candidates that I feel better represent me and my issues without pandering to their respective sides. I definitely lean conservative because of my upbringing. But it seems to me that we had little choice as far as a true conservative last year.

Now with regard to the speech. Will it REALLY brainwash your children???? If you think so, then you have not done enough to instill a sense of self in your children, and to bring them up to respect the position that the office of the president holds. Just like we all were asking those that were bashing Bush all day long to do. I feel that trying to keep the children from the speech would be more brainwashing than allowing them to view it and then having a discussion about it at home. Parents seem to be telling their kids that their own personal political beliefs and hatred toward those with opposing political viewpoints, outweigh their child's education.
 
I think they should add these questions to the list after the speech.

Do you know what Socialism is and how to avoid it?
Do you know the best way to keep your freedoms in this country?
Did you know that the President is attacking your right to free speech if you speak against his policies?
Do you know that the President thinks that you are a (racist mobster terrorist) if you do not agree with his beliefs?
Did you know that even your grand kids will be paying for the money the President has already foolishly spent?

How long until there are Church Of Obamas erected. Think about it folks.

I applaud you for actually trying to look at this objectively. All, I am saying is that Obama is trying to do positive things, and these republicans always think he has alterior motives. He wants to talk to kids and motivate them, but the foxNEWS bunch thinks he is "brain washing kids", and what's worse is they're serious. Thats not even possible, lol. Then he tries to get poor people medical coverage, but these republicans organize fake rallies where they bring in people from out of town and make up lies like the death panel or the government decidiing who gets into a hospital and who doesn't, those are flat out LIES, but they believe them any way.

I just dont understand how these people believe the lies they hear, and perpetuate them. its sad and pathetic, that they would resort to this, but this is the same group who lied about john kerry's military service, and supported a deserter from the alabama national guard ("W"), and felt food about themselves while doing so. PATHETIC, LIARS!!!
 
6man you shouldn't type angry I know I never felt food about W. Good maybe but not food. Also by the way earlier in the post you mentioned that Pres. Obama voted against the war. That's interesting considering he wasn't even in congress when that vote happened.

As a teacher I was planning on showing the speech and allowing my students to discuss it. I did not vote for Pres. Obama but I have his picture in my room and will as long as he is president.

Far as Bush bashin, Obama bashin. If we'd of all wrote our legislators & raised hell 10 years ago to abolish the antiquated electoral college system we'd of never had a 2nd Bush to bash. He couldn't of been re-elected by 1-2% to leave office with the lowest approval rating in history since he didn't win a majority of votes in the 1st place. If Prescott hadn't groomed Nixon....... 6man- can you come up with anything on your own? You just throw up the party line. But, that's what I should expect. My bad. Yes "W" did many things that I didn't like, but you seem to think Obama is the Messiah or something. And you WILL drink his kool aid, you already have!
And to whoever said that we as parents haven't done our job if we can't let our kids view Obama's speech and then tell them to ignore it. It is our job to screen what goes before their eyes and ears. Thats what being a parent is all about.
 
obama is the president, not messiah, please dont put words in my mouth. my problem is that bush messed up this country for 8 yrs, and obama has been president for 8 months. bush raised the deficit to unprecidented levels, yet u seem to think hes caused the whole thing. give the guy a chance. he has done some good things, and some dumb things, but he is not my messiah, he is the president of a country that is in trouble, most of which he had little to do with, yet u all blame him for everything. did u hear that the loss of jobs in this country has slowed? or that the cash for clunkers was a success? i doubt u will give him any credit, and probably blame him for something else he didnt do.

i brought this topic up becus it relates to schools and students, and also becus this thread is for non-football related topics.

i am glad to see there are many opinions on here. finally, i do not drink koolaid very often, im a big red or monster kinda guy, but prefer the dollar store brand of koolaid cherry is my favorite, lol.
