All State Teams...Food for Thought

Food for thought...

1995 Six-Man football had 84 teams, 29 possible players selected to 1st team and 2nd team All-State combined with 1 Player of the year (who was also 1st team all state) and 1 coach of the year: so 30 possible players honored (not counting honorable mentions). 6 offensive positions (QB, RB, E, C, K, Kick returner) and 4 defensive positions (Linemen, Linebackers, Safety, Punter)
Note: Dewayne Miles was player of the year, 1st team RB and 1st team linebacker; Petey Saliaz was 1st team RB and 2nd team linebacker; Noah Williams was 1st team offensive end and 2nd team punter

2016 D2 Six-Man football had 69 teams: a player of the year, offensive player of the year, defensive player of the year, newcomer of the year, and coach of the year (none of which are on the all state teams) and 52 players selected for 1st team and 2nd team all state combined...total of 56 possible players honored (also 46 players named to Honorable Mention) 11 offensive positions and 7 defensive positions.

Hi Leman. I know your the Guru of sixman history and was wondering where you find info on the 95 all state team. My question relates to one I asked during the season. The all state teams from the early 2000's forward were on the old sixman coaches website but not the new one. I asked if the new site might be updated and if anyone knew where to find info on previous years. I think there should be a repository for this information somewhere on the internet. The coaches association, here - as the site's being reconfigured/moved soon, lonestarfootball, the uil or wherever.
I know I would use such a resource regarding comments I make here. I think others would find it of interest also. I see some 9th grader telling a team mate "my dad was all state in 200_" or "my granddad was in 198_ or 199_. "See"!
I could see people like you, Granger, HPD, OBK, many (other) Coaches, Mr. Parks, the spirit of Don Hardin and several more supporting such an effort. But I don't know how to make it happen myself. I lack both the technological and historical expertise or perspective.

I guess I'm beating dead horse here but beat it I will. Nobody else here cares or is willing to help? Coaches, Guru, OBK, Leman, UIL (ha), Texas Football Magazine- Mr. Campbell. Please, in the name of History of the game and those who made it what it is.
Will anyone remember the contributions of Dewayne Miles, Lyle Campbell, Jonathon Parsons or that guy from Trinidad in 98 in 5 - 10 years?

In the 70's-80's they had 6 1st team off and def. Plus kicker and punter. They had same for 2nd team.

There was only one division...So 28 1st and 2nd teamers.

Now an incredible amount plus two divisions. But hey, at least everyone gets a trophy...Right?

Politically rigged this year! You say everyone gets a trophy? Some did that actually probably didn't deserve to. Some of the best didn't even get honorable mention! Not that All-State means a whole lot, but they should be chosen by skill and accomplishment.
But it has happened before and will happen again. It all depends on who is on the committee.

As I meant to say, OBK is the unquestioned Guru regarding sixman history but Leman is carrying the torch forward...
So, you're implying OBK is old and incapable of coherent thought processes?................ If so I completely agree....................

Well his handle does stand for OLD Bearkat... but I can't say much as I think he's about the same age as me.
Regarding the "coherent thought processes" that's one reason I'd like to see all the all state teams possible listed somewhere. So when We get to Your age if we can't remember who was what year we will have a place to look. If we can remember our passwords (thank goodness for auto login, though I don't need it Yet).

I agree. No wait!! I disageree....

What was it you said????

I tried to copy and paste the all state list from the sixman coaches assn website to here, but it was a total mess so I deleted it. Some computer guru may be able to get a better take on it.
Congratulations to all the kids whose names were listed. But, actually, there may have been a few all-staters who wouldn't have even started for the top teams.

Nice to see someone from Prairie Lea on there in light of their almost Historic season. Even if it is the punter. Regarding next year the MVP could be Union Hill soph kicker Omar Aguillon if they beat say Jonesboro by 2. Nice to see Colt Mallory recognized.
I think they missed one in DII but we shall see. Don't want to put a target on his back if no one else noticed.
I did notice the 2015 all state teams on the 6m coaches site. Any chance some of the previous years might be restored on the new site?

Oops, posted the last paragraph of this as an edit of the original post.

Actually I'd like to see the 78-79 teams to see if any Strawn players are on them. Maybe I'll make it to the school library someday to look if I make it to (?) retirement.
In addition I'm curious about the 98 team in particular.

Not sure, but for a number of years, the secretary included a list of all-state squads in the association book with minutes, etc. Perhaps they are still there.
