9/11/01, Where were you on that Day

I was working a contract engineering job at the Davis-Besse nuclear plant near Toledo OH. It was right under the flyway from the East Coast, and it was really strange to see only F-16's from the AF reserve unit at Toledo Airport in the air.

I was working for FEDEX that morning and heard something on the morning load about a plane that hit the WTC. I thought it was probably a small plane that got lost. Got on my downtown route and nobody was in the front of their business, all were in the back watching the second plane hit. I had just walked into the FBI building when they decided to shut down the building for fear of bombs. I remember not working the next day because all flights were grounded. I sat on my couch all day and watched the news coverage. Never Forget

I was at Broadwing Communications in Austin at my cubicle. An hour after the first plane hit the whole complex except for the netwoek operations center shut down and went home.

Honeywell aircraft parts distribution center, Alliance Airport Fort Worth. 9:00 break (after 6:00 start) on the lunch room tv. Kept going back to see what was going on. That evening I saw PEOPLE jumping from the flames, smoke and crumbling buildings to their death.

I was at home. We had overslept because on the night of the 10th one of our crazy neighbors (directly across the street) had pulled a gun threatening to shoot his next door neighbors dog since it had scratched his wife. At 1am we still had four police cars, a firetruck and an EMS parked in front of our house and sleeping was tough.

The clock radio was talking about something we couldn't understand. I ran to turn on the TV. It was 8am. A few minutes later I watched the second plane. I was in a daze. My wife ended up going to the office. I was working for iHigh at home. I distinctly remember getting in my car around noon because I needed to see people and driving around until I finally stopped at a Whataburger where they had a TV set up and people were just standing around eating and watching.

I also remember driving to Milford on Saturday to see the games. It was great to have those to get away to after a tough week.

In my third year of the fire service. At the recreation center in the city I work for , outside of DFW airport. Second plane hits and our chief calls everyone back to their stations.
Also remember where I was when the space shuttle challenger exploded.

I was at home because we had run out of parts at work. I was sitting in my chair and noticed a plane going through the empire building. I didn't think it was a real thing happening until the other plane went through the other building. My husband said something hit both and it was real. I cried and cried not understanding WHY!!!!!!!!! We had stickers of America on every car in that parking lot. Seeing those people run for their lives and the firemen and policemen being killed was too much for me. To hear that the building fell on top of the kids was devastating. I will never forget.
