Coach Ethridge you know how it works. I asked Mrs. Bates to speak and she said it is simple. Go through the training to be foster parent and take what the state gives you. Then the coaching staff takes these kids and gets them to buy into your program and teach them life skills. You know the headaches you go through, but the bottom line is putting God first and great things happen. Being a foster parent is a full time job and you lose most of your own time when you are raising foster children. God Bless Mr. and Mrs. Bates for what they do and any other foster parents. They are not paid enough money to do what they do. Coach you know what these kids have been through first hand. You had to help raise a few yourself. It is a true victory and blessing from God when you see what athletics has done for these kids, especially when you see them have success. It is all worth it. Maybe next year you and I could speak on what we went through with the foster kids we coached together. We still talk about Shelby, Tyler Fox, Jesstin Fox, Darrell's, and the other kids we have coached. We really get a laugh talking about you and Patrick Couch. Coaching is a ministry. We now have a devotional coach on our staff that really helps lead all of our kids to Christ. He has even influenced Shawn and I. We are blessed to have him. Take care and it was good to hear from you. Have a Blessed Day:)

I tell stories of Patty to every class I teach. They know that my next boy will be named Patty...Patrick Jack, as in more than once I felt I needed a shot of Jack to help me face the challenges he and I had to overcome...but we did.

Seriously,I believe I learned as much from them as they did from me. Shelby reinforced the idea that it's not always size that counts the most, but heart and humility. Jesstin and Tyler Fox exemplified perseverance and passion, while Coey proved that it's never too late as long as someone believes in you. They all left something to remember. These things were taught once upon a time, but our overprotected lifestyles are so subdued that if they are needed it is in half-measures. That's why I dig the rush and heat of competition...it demands these character traits. And the lessons they taught are anchored in my bones.

I think of them often, especially my dog! :)

We will have a schedule change.

Coach Barnes (Jonesboro) will now speak on Saturday at 10:00 A.M.

Coach Althoff (Baylor) will now speak on Friday at 4:00 P.M.

Coach Reed (Throckmorton) Will now speak on Friday at 6:00 P.M.

We will add another great speaker on Saturday.

Sorry for the changes.

The week of the clinic is here. We are expecting good numbers for this clinic. We have had 50 coaches pre-registered and 35 other coaches that have called and said they are coming. Please let me know if you plan to attend. We need a head count for our booster club so that we have enough food for saturday. We are excited. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you.
