    Congratulations RS

Like Randy Moss said when the Vikings reacquired him in the mid 2000's, "pull your #13 Ethridge Jersies out!"

    Congratulations RS

If true, can you imagine Hayes or Ethridges as junior high and/or JV coaches? Burkhart/Rodgers/Hayes/H. Ethridge has to be the greatest coaching staff in 6-man football history.

Filled Calvert ISD-Head Football Coach Needed(Returning ALOT of Players)

You might be right, I have no idea to be honest with you. I might even participate in that discussion if you put it in the "Sixman Football Discussion" area and would definitely read comments by people more informed than me. I just think Calvert deserves peace and tranquility within their job...

Filled Calvert ISD-Head Football Coach Needed(Returning ALOT of Players)

Someone else will want this job. Why does it have to be either side's fault?

    Coaching Carousel 2022

The 45 day rule has/is about to take effect, so I would guess those hires will happen quickly. By roughly July 15th, anyone in a contract will be penalized for breaking their 2022 to 2023 contracts. That cuts the pool of potential candidates way down. I bet an assistant somewhere will end up...

    Bet you didn't know!

My dad played for TCU, and he always told me Texas A&M's band was much louder and harder to hear than any other band by far.

    Most Anticipated Games of 2022

I am going to guess Throckmorton, but some schools stay 11-man for awhile even after they drop into 1A. Menard has been 1A for maybe 5 years now and only has 86 kids currently. It would be neat to see a real 2A school drop, choose to play 6-man immediately, hire a top notch coach, and embrace...

    Most Anticipated Games of 2022

I saw Menard play 11-man last year, and they were big and slow. Their one fast guy, #25, was a senior. Best case scenario, Menard has the #1 rushing attack in 6-man but gives up a 100 points a game.

    Most Anticipated Games of 2022

@jamwash, I bet you a coke Leakey does not win district next year. They graduated a lot and lost to Medina last year. Otherwise, great posts!

Getting closer to no cutting at all

I hate cut blocking in 11-man. One of the most brutal plays in crowded ball is an offensive lineman cut blocking a defensive lineman, especially when the latter is engaged with another offensive lineman or does not see it coming because he is pursing the play. Although I am usually vehemently...

Getting closer to no cutting at all

I think my interpretation of the "tackle box" would solve the problem. The "tackle box" in 11-man changes depending on formation, so why not say there is no "tackle box?" Whether you agree or not, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Getting closer to no cutting at all

So an upback in spread cannot cut a rusher five to seven yards in the backfield?

Getting closer to no cutting at all

Help me out because I am not clear. Is "the tackle box" the hash marks? Do the refs make an imaginary "tackle box" in their mind? To help you out, Roach, the UIL makes rules designed for 11-man football that get passed down to 6-man. Even though I still do not like it, this rule makes more...

Getting closer to no cutting at all

    What about in spread?

Getting closer to no cutting at all

I think the rule should not apply to 6-man because there is no "tackle box."

UIL Legislative Council - June 14

While virtually every team will start pressing, it will be to run the shot clock down more than to actually steal the ball. I might favor a shot clock if it is like 60 seconds just to keep teams from stalling. Otherwise, we need to encourage patience in basketball not more transition 3 point...

UIL Legislative Council - June 14

Because all the boys teams today want to do is go down there and shoot quick 3's. A shot clock encourages even more transition game and pressing while discouraging efficient half court offense. This is an attempt by people who love man defense to make zone teams come out and guard them because...
