Post Some pics from Friday's game
ACHS vs. Amarillo Holy Cross

The light in Elmer Gray stadium is horrible. It makes photography after sunset pretty tough. I got a few keepers anyway. I sure do like playoffs at the really nice fields with lots of lights though. LOL Hopefully, we'll get to play on some of those fields. Gotta play the 1st round at Elmer Gray. Glad to be in the playoffs and good to be at home. I just wish we had better lights.

Holy Cross has some big and athletic kids. They played very hard the whole game. No quit in those boys.

Sometimes, you get lucky and hit the shutter button at just the right time.

I don't know how he caught this one. He had to turn completely around and reach back for an under-thrown ball that hit the defender in the back. One of the most amazing catches I've seen in a while. Defender couldn't believe it.

#12 (on defense) made a GREAT play on this pass and tipped it up and out, I thought. But 17 (offense) got to it.

I like the perspective from the ground in the end zone. Makes it look like you're in the action.

I've been told by newspaper photographers that endzone views get the best pictures. Pics from the stands usually aren't that good for print/news purposes.

And I kind of like the contrast of the lighting up there in Abilene ... is that the same stadium as Abilene Christian University uses?

ACU plays at Shotwell. Elmer Gray is on the ACU campus, but it's just used for track. They let ACHS and ACMS play football on the field, as we only have a practice field on our campus.

Yeah, pics from the stands aren't very good. Sideline pics can be OK, but endzone views are much better. Getting the camera right down on the ground behind the end zone, to me, is the best. Cooler views than when you stand up with the camera.

The light at Elmer Gray is bad for photography at the 40 yard line, but in the end zones it's almost non-existent.

Anybody know what it costs to put up some new lights? Maybe I need to figure out a fundraiser for ACU to pay for new lights. LOL

Shane, I'm the athletic director at Holy Cross. I was wondering if you can email me the pictures you took of this game. I appreciate the comment about our boys playing hard and they did, I'll miss them as the majority of the team are seniors. Abilene Christian was outstanding this year, in the 6 years I've been around 6 man football, I consider them in the top 5 list of 6 man teams who are just amazing in all aspects, along with '05 Throckmorton, '06 Rule, '06 & '07 Ricland Springs, '10 Garden City. They were that good. I appreciate it.
