 Crowell/Throckmorton
I had a feeling this would be a great game. The boys from Crowell came out fired up and their coaches gave us some new looks to adjust to. This was a hard fought game until the end. The post about #7 Joseph Santos was right on the money, I would hate to see him on a Dry field! #20 Gerhardt had some great speed and size also but didn't get to see him much. Good luck against Paducah. Congratulations to my boys of Throckmorton for adjuting to a tough team and pulling this one out.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
I for one was really wrong about this game. I thought Throck would cover the spread. Statsman, What was the score by quarters and when did throck seemingly have the game wrapped up. Sounds like a great game to be at and congrats to both teams.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
Crowell 6 14 8 16
Throckmorton 6 8 22 30
There was a time in the 4th quarter that I breathed a little easier but never comfortable.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
Crowell was ahead at half then. I will bet that they were pretty exited. Throck has really done well in the second half this year. They were behind GC at half, then blew them away second half, tied with Follett then blew them out in second half, then behind Crowell. Too bad for those teams that lightening could'nt have cancelled the games at half.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
A team that is slow to start in the first half in 6-man football doesn't allways get to the second half. I hope these boys look at this game as a wake up call. When you are picked by 45 in almost every game you get a little lazy and make some big mistakes that can bite you in the butt! Our boys to me looked a little confused at times and it is getting a little late in the year to look like that. I am not taking anything away from Crowell because they played a very good game but I have seen our boys click alot better than what they did last night.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
The game was AWESOME! I felt honored to be involved in it. This is best crowell team i have seen in many years. They played their hearts out and with game being 36 all with 7 mins left I was wondering if I was going to have my first overtime game. Coaches, players and fans were outstanding. Coaches worked us hard, which they should, tempers overall were held in check and excitement was on 10 level. Coach Roberts and Coach Reed did outstanding job with boys. Excuse me, boys is not correct. Young Men. What a game. I didn't get home till almost 1am. Was worth it! This district has to be the toughest in the state. All six teams could make the playoffs depending on what district they were in. It's really a shame that only 2 teams get to go. Congrats to both teams for an outstanding played game. Whew. What a game.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
Yall did a good job last night Ref. You will never be able to please everyone because you know as well as I do that we are better at making calls than the refs. I would not like your job because I do not think I have the temperment for it. The game was called fairly both ways and great decission making without to much delay. Top quality officials...Thanks

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
It was an ok called game. Throck had 6 touchdowns called back, and a 10 minute first quarter that took maybe 8. the white-hat ran an unbelievable amount of time off the clock Crowell had an extra 10 seconds on the playclock between every play... Good game though. both teams represent the district well and if the cards fall right they may meet up again, i dont see it being as close next time but well just have to see...

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
Crowell had their share of penalties that cost them several big plays as well. The games was officiated fairly both ways.
Injuries had Crowell down a little in this game, so you are probably right-- if these 2 teams match up again, it will not be this close. It will probably be a lot closer with Crowell, potentially, bringing home a big "W". Throckmorton is a great team and very deserving of their ranking, but, they are also very beatable.
I should mention that I was very impressed with the Throckmorton players' sportsmanship. These guys were great athletes and seemed to be very dignified on the field.
This was a fun game to watch!!!

Wow, 6td's? 10 minute quarter that only last 8? Ran extra time for Crowell? Home Field Advantage? Really, I don't know how to respond to someone questioning my integrity of officiating a game. I've had people say I made bad calls, good calls etc. Those are part of the game. I don't think I've ever had any think i tried to cheat a team before. Maybe I'm wrong. All I was trying to do with my original post was to comment how good the game was and well played the young men of both teams played. I know both coaches, have done games for both and don't live anywhere near either team. I wish both teams the best of luck. The crew I was with left town at 4pm and didn't get back until 1am to do that game. The whole way back we talked about how good the game was. Throckmorton and Crowell are both very good teams and very well coached. We gave our best and none of us cared which team won the game. Did we miss calls? Of course. Did we make a few mistakes during the game. I'm sure. Did the players and coaches make some mistakes? You would have to ask them. We try to only call the fouls that have a bearing on the play, like holding on offense, when it was near the runner, or the injurious type of fouls. We do our best to let the players decide the game. By rule, we were within rights to eject 2 players for fighting, but just held it to offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties so they could continue. Didn't have a problem with either the rest of the way. After every game I go through my mind all the borderline calls and situations handled during the contest. I try to justify each and sometimes I can't and I tell myself I will handle it differently next time. I officiate for the love of the game (6man in particular) and many times we are short handed due to lack of officials. We need more. I really didn't mean to start anything by my first post. Just wanted to comment on a well played game. I've learned something from this, Never do that, and I never will again, if I continue officiating next season.

 Re: Crowell/Throckmorton
You refs got a tough job in Crowell. We are not known for our hospitality towards referees. But in all honesty it is NEVER personal. We all somehow like to be armchair QBs. And I do know there is always confusion that we operate in NCAA rules not Pros. Let me be the first to say ya'll did a good job. I seen some we got away with and seen them get away with. I will leave it at that. If all were called you would have gotten home a whole lot later than 1am. This was a heck of a game. Throckmorton has a good team and the part that really impressed me was the class they showed after the game when both squads held a mini fellowship afterwards. That is what football IS all about. Good job to both squads.
