What are everyone's predictions on the game? Mine is of course the Panthers. I believe they've already beat the best team they just have to keep they're head on right.

w/out seeing either team play, just from what I have read I am picking Abilene. The only thing that worries me is Abilene having such a tough fought game against Bracken that it let's down against Covenant

I'm going with Covenant. 3rd year in a row to Moody, defeated the Panthers the past 3 years in playoffs. An underrated, deep and athletic team that executes to perfection will put away the panthers by 12.

This is not an unfamiliar position for ACHS. This has absolutely no bearing on the game but the similarities are interesting.
'85 ACHS loses to Canyon Creek Christian in the simifinal. Canyon Creek goes on to lose in final.
'86 ACHS loses again to Canyon Creek in the semifinal. This time the game was tied, was no o.t. and ACHS lost on penetrations. The first tie break was who had the most first downs. they were also tied there so they went to who penetrated the others 20 yard line most. Talk about a horrible way to decide a game. Canyon Creek goes on to lose once again in the final.
'87 ACHS makes it to the final game and you guessed it, vs. Canyon Creek. ACHS wins 30something to 8.
Like I said, it has nothing to do with this game but a great story for the ACHS boys to hear and maybe take a little motivation from. Not that they need it.

I'm going with Covenant. The School and coach have been waiting. I believe this is the year they will prevail.

Obviously I'm biased. But watching this team all year, this is not the same Abilene Christian that lost to DC the last couple of years. These young men are dedicated, talented, and they exhibit great hard-working, don't-know-the-meaning-of-quit attitudes. They've been ahead of DC in the rankings for a good reason - because they earned it on the field. They'll complete the mission. I don't care what the score is. :)

Shane, if the ACHS boys are as you describe them, they have already completed the mission. A state title will just be the cherry on top. Good luck to both teams -- battle hard.

Very true, but this year the Panthers are a completely different team and they are hungry for the ring. You can't compare what has happened in the past to right now, plus the boys have a very bad taste in their mouth because of what happened last year.

True that, BlueHawk. They're a great bunch of young men, no matter who wins the game. We'll all be just as proud of them either way.

Both teams seem to be "due"...DC for being denied in prior finals trips, and ACHS for a couple losses to DC in the playoffs, so a win will be very satisfying for either team. Sounds like ACHS relies pretty heavily on the passing game, so inclement weather, if present, could be the "X" factor. Assuming that's not the case, I'll take the advice of the chain gang from Zephyr who saw both teams and give a slight edge to ACHS.

ok, to clarify. was mainly giving the past three years btwn the teams as an interesting fact, not as any sort of deciding factor.the better team will win it, and in my opinion that is Covenant

ryry, sorry to see your bulldogs out of the playoffs. wouldve been cool to have dc and abilene's only losses playing for a title themselves.

Thanks, but we are proud of each and every player on the Ira team for a great season. I wish we would have been a 100 percent going into the game but thats football. But we will be back next year hungry for more, we have a few seniors but the bulk of the team will be returning. Good luck to ACHS, Im behind ya'll all the way!
