 Football Names
What are some of the great football team/unit names?
Steel Curtain
Doomsday
Wrecking Crew
Blackshirts
Orange Crush
The Sugarland Express
My favorite is Oregon's Gang Green defense in the early 90s.

My personal favorite, the Chinese Bandits. You have to be old to know what this is. Comes from iron man football. If you know what it refers to post the answer and will see if can come up with another one.

Houston Oilers, early 60's? Vaguely remember watching a game with the announcer talking about the Chinese bandits. Did Houston and the Dallas Texans play in the first AFC championship game?

Sorry but no cigar there. I am sure someone will google it but be interesting to see if there are any true old folks on here who go back a ways. Keep trying folks.

My brother went to and graduated from Auburn University, a big rival of LSU. I asked him about the Chinese Bandits and he told me it was the LSU defensive unit in the late 1950s.

A big cigar for Kinsman. Back in the day of platoon football, that was the name of the LSU bunch. Okay, here is another one: This one is more regional, The RED ANT DEFENSE.

Sorry Bearkat, true they are the Red Ants, but as I said this is more regional particularly the region you hail from.
