Finally.

Postby 51eleven » Sat Aug 13, 2016 10:02 pm

Though not sixman, not live, in person, I saw football tonight. Along with 90,000 who did see it live.
Dak Prescott had a outstanding NFL debut. Some really pretty passes. Of course it's the first pre-seaon game with players missing on both sides. The best o-line in the NFL, Dez and Williams among others to throw to (outstanding catch by Dez).

Of course I realize he was not being blitzed by elite pass rushers. But it was nice to see live football on the tv on a Saturday night. The passes were pretty. 10 of 12 and the 2 were drops, not misses. 139 yards / 10 completions = 13.9 per pass.

And Now We Go Live. With Sanchez as a backup, after Denver gave up on him as a backup for a rookie and a guy who's never started. Millionaires and Billionaires invest so much in teams. Why not invest in two proven backups to ride the Bench if your Jerry Jones and want to win the Super Bowl? You have the best O-line, the best bevy of RB's, Dez and Williams, Witten. Now your one hit away from Mark Sanchez, who might have possible confidence issues.

Then again, if needed, Sanchez has never had this protection, rb's or receivers in the NFL.

They'd better be able to score every time they touch the ball, cause they sure as hell ain't stopping anyone.

I am not a Cowboys fan. Was raised by my Cowboys-fan dad, who actually used to take me to Oilers' training camp, when it was in Kerrville. However, I do enjoy the spectacle that is the Cowboys... and since JJ has owned the team, that's what it has been.

Several years ago I proposed a hypothetical trade to my Cowboy friends: Sanchez for Romo. This was at Romo's low. Both of these guys seemed like decent qbs who always appeared to be living in that Southwest commercial (Gotta get away?). I thought a new atmosphere would be good for both.

Not a single Cowboys fan thought it was a good idea. Now here we are. Romo again hurt but now Sanchez a Cowboy. I think he will do fine until Romo gets back, if ever.

Sanchez will make mistakes at the most inopportune time. I wouldn't hang my hat on him, and glad my team sent him packing to go younger (although I believe Lynch will be starting by week 6 in Denver). All I know is when Denver signed Sanchez, every Cowboy fan I know gave me crap. I was cautiously optimistic when Denver signed Sanchez - but am glad he's in Dallas now, where Cowboy fans can now put on their rose colored glasses to look at him.

It's a really interesting situation. If Prescott continues to show the moxie and accuracy seen so far under the first team non pre season blitzes I anticipate will we see Sanchez? Obviously they would like to give him time to learn the offense and get rep's with the first team players. Opportunities for which are limited if Dak is the starter. Sanchez was great at USC and was the hero in New York for a while when he took the Jet's to the AFC Championship. Given the Boy's from Frisco's o line, Dez-Whitten-Willams and the running game they might cover for him enough to play manage the offense until he regains some confidence.
Having spent about three of my pre-teen years in Denver during the Floyd Little era the Broncos have always been my second favorite team. I think they gave up on this year and screwed up. Then they need more than Thomas, e.g. o line help and with the running game. Sanchez or any other QB available couldn't have brought them another title this year. May I eat crow.

Smokey, you might remember from post's in years past Dandy Don is the ultimate Cowboy IMHO.
Which is tough to say because I don't know if him or Walt Garrison was tougher, and, Mr. Garrison was quite cordial the one time I had a chance to speak briefly with him. I started loosing faith after the first Super Bowl win when Walt, Bullet and Lilly retired. But they did surprise me in the late 70's and early 90's

And no one could put Howard "the mouth" in his place like Meredith could.

Regarding the Bronco's and their QB, if I can get my foot out of my mouth I hope i don't choke on That crow.

Wow 51eleven, a Floyd Little sighting!! Haven't heard that name in a long time but he sure was a heck of a running back. Back then Syracuse produced some pretty good runners... Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Floyd Little, Larry Csonka, Jim Nance and Joe Morris.
