Wish I could say some Packer great in the 60s rode my bike, but you more-or-less had to live in Green Bay for that honor, since my mom would tell me I was nuts if I thought she was going to haul my bike to Green Bay in our Rambler sedan. I'm guessing todays mommas and poppas haul their kids' bikes on racks from all over the state to try and get a chance. I wouldn't be suprised if each Packer has the choice of 10 or more bikes each practice day.

The Packer practice fields are just across Oneida St. from the Lambeau Field parking lot, it's probably a couple block walk to the locker rooms and this was one of those traditions that just happened ... probably some kid offered his bike to a weary Packer player and offered to carry his helmet and pads.

There's actually a statute of a Packer riding a bike with a kid alongside somewhere in the Lambeau complex.

Just saw a pic on the Milwaukee Journal web site of a Packer on a bike with a kid holding his helmet.

I need to check on the chemicals and additives they're adding to the milk up there, because it sure looks like that the kid is about 40 and has a mustache ...

I can not believe that lifegate has not yet posted that Graham Harrell (after a shaky start - several bad throws) threw a TD for the Green Bay Peckerwoods (as Goob might call them).

Missed that ... the Milwaukee and Green Bay paper websites are getting a little more difficult to access (both want you to pay for access after a few free articles each month) ... I think it's something like $12 or $15 per month, and hey, I didn't make much more than that tossing the Green Bay paper in the late 60's (although my route wasn't in GB, but in a town 40 miles away and the GB paper was the #3 paper after the local rag and the Milwaukee papers).
