 Re: Dr. Pepper
Guys, my first car was a 1965 Olds F85. Loved the car and drove it until some stinkin' drunk decided to slam into it when I had it parked on the street.
I remember the cops calling me at 2 am telling me there was "some damage to my gas tank." Yeah. The back end of the car was wrapped around it, inside out. And the stinkin' drunk was standing there, smoking a cigarette. Cop tells him to put it out and the drunk is ready to throw it TOWARD the car (spilling gas, which reminds me I had filled up the tank that afternoon) before the cop grabs the cig from him and throws it the other direction. Got $150 from the insurance company as they totalled the car (this was in 1976 or so).
Anway, back to the story. About 15 or 20 years later, I'm in the parking lot of North Star Mall in San Antonio ... here's an exact duplicate of that car, color, style, interior, all that. In fact, I think I saw it at least twice. I'm now kicking myself for not putting a business card on the window asking if they'd like to sell it.

1948 Ford Panel truck with a flathead 6. Paid $100, rebuilt the carb and ran it 4 years. Sold it 10 years ago for 500. Girls parents weren't too crazy about it. Couldn't figure out why. I had a real nice cotton stuffed mattress in the back..........................

 Re: Dr. Pepper
My first car was a '64 four door Chevy Impala. Only had a 283 in it. I think my Dad thought that I wouldn't drive quite so fast in a family type car....it would run about 105 top in if there was a slight breeze behind it and a slight down grade. Anywhere that I went that wasn't on a dirt road the accelorator was on the floor. My second car was '65 Chevy Super Sport. It had a 327 in it. The front end was just loose enough to keep me from running more than 80 to 85, but it sounded so good getting to that speed!

My first car was a '57 Chevy Bel Air. It only had a 235 inline 6 with no A/C, but I thought I was the king of the world. She was a beauty and is my dream car today.

 Re: Dr. Pepper
The Fairlaine, same body as a Torino, with a 302 2bbl would out run my friends 69 Torino with a 351 2bbl in it. About the time the Camaro was paid off they started requiring liability insurance. I want to say $2-3 a month, maybe $5. About a year later waiting to turn left in a center turn lane I was rear ended, they were doing about 30-40 mph & hit the brakes about 10' before they hit me. Shoved the front end of the Camaro up under the back end of the pickup in front of me also turning left. Totaled from both ends. I busted the windshield with my shoulder but walked away with only a bruised shin. The guy had no insurance. For my $30-60 of liablility payments they paid $3000 on a 4 year old $4200 car.
