Bronte can be very successful as long as the Admin, the Board and Community support the kids and the coaching staff. Being open minded to the change is the number one objective to their success.

I came from coaching in college to coaching six-man and it took me 2 years to embrace the game and another year or so to fully love the game. One of the happiest and rewarding thing I ever did was leave 11-man football and get back to six-man football.

I wish Bronte all the best.

The change to 6 man affects different schools differently. It took Richland Springs over 20 years to get successful after they switched in 1979. When Garden City and Throckmorton went6 man in 2004, they were immediately successful. Sterling City and Crowell took a couple of years. Jayton was an immediate success going from a good 11 man school to a great 6 man school. The same for Valley and Fort Davis. I was surprised that Petersburg and Nazareth have not had that much success given their football traditions and the same for Rising Star, Gorman, and Robert Lee.

Irion County's numbers have dropped with the loss of the Boy's Ranch. Chance they could go?

I did not hear the Boy's Ranch had closed. Or are they going to educate the boys themselves now?

Interesting. What was their reason for that? That's a pretty good hike every morning, but really no worse that some far-flung rural school districts have for their kids. Tankersley is a lot closer to Mertzon than San Angelo.

Not sure exactly. Sources say they just upped and left. Heard that had been some problems with some of the "Boys", think used to they were not kids in trouble but times may have changed.

Interesting. That would put them about the same as Garden City and Water Valley. IC coming back to 6 man with Bronte coming in will make for some interesting district alignments.
