Drove through Flat Sunday afternoon. The community is a good bit bigger than a lot of sixman towns that still have their schools.

Centennial is a beautiful lodge now. Watched a friend get married there about 10 years ago. Before it was turned into a lodge, it was used as an alternative high school for students in the area, mainly Coleman I think.

Probably no tax base to support a school now.

I was perusing the net tonight and it occurred to me to search for Targe Lindsay, the coach for Garden City from 1951 to 1956. He coached the Bearkats to their first district, bi-district, and regional championships in 1955. He left GC at the end of the 1956-57 school year for an administrative job in Midland and then in 1960 moved to California where he spent the rest of his life. He died on October 30 2018.
